I never really had WWE 24/7 when it was around due to me not wanting to pay upwards of $100 (cable + the subscription). I know they did always have a LOT of old WWF house shows and a bunch of MACW shows.
They haven't really added old house shows on the Network for a while now and no MACW shows anywhere.
I really wish they would add these.

Agree completely. I really love those old house shows, especially the MSG stuff from the mid-late 80s. So much great stuff.

Yeah just saw that, kinda funny they put up the news story after I posted a comment on here.
Still, it's stupid. Put up the content and maybe you'll get NEW subscribers from old school fans who wants to see classic footage.

Of course specials will get more viewers than old house shows, Prime Time, etc. There's ONE of each special. There are hundreds of episodes of Prime Time and hundreds of potential house shows.
Pirating the specials would be pretty easy for people, but who wants to download hundreds (or thousands) of shows just to have a similar amount of content to the network? The beauty of the network is in the classic stuff. If they can't see that, there's little hope for this.

I want more older material as well but if people aren't watching it as much as the new material (The Roman Reigns 24/7 was very good) I can't blame them for focusing on adding newer content.

Well, if they promoted, say the Attitude Era Raws, about as much as the specials and NXT, perhaps the viewership might actually reflect that.
It's a good thing I frequent this forum, otherwise I would have never known they put up the 1998 Raws. Not that it does me much good, because I saw all of them on Classics on Demand. I want 1999 to come up, as they stopped Classics on Demand right after the Higher Power was revealed.

Something I wonder is if the majority of subscribers use the service for just PPV's and specials as opposed to those who use it for the actual catalog.
I know I personally use it for the catalog and watching the older stuff. I will admit that the PPV's were the big selling point for me.

I think the best thing to do with archive content is do more shows like the Cinco De Mayo special. I mean most the matches were entertaining as was the history of lucha segments from nitro and it's all content I would have never of really come across.
Sitting through an entire old PPV or house show doesn't really interest me that much but themed shows where they cherry pick good matches and have some continuity announcers in between and other archive materials are great, allows you to sit back and explore the best of the archive without the effort of going through it and finding stuff or having to slog through a terrible undercard for the 1 or 2 good matches on a show.
after seeing Renee and Bryons excellent job hosting the foley doc before his comedy special I think they should host this hypothetical archive show.
Plus it's extremely cheap to make and people see it as new content.
in fact what I'm describing is similar to the vintage collection show they used to air in Europe, but a bit less dry and more contemporary with its presentation

I actually thought when I got the network I'd mostly watch old stuff.
I find myself more interested in NXT and WWE ppvs, than rewatching even the greatest moments of the past.

Personally I've never watched an old show on the Network and I've had it since its release. I get WHY people want to watch it, but I spend at least six hours a week watching wrestling, as well as the PPV's and made for specials and countdown documentaries etc. No way do I have time to watch stuff where I know the outcome.

I wonder if things will change when HHH takes over. Yeah, doubtful, but if HHH really is the old school fan he claims to be, maybe we'll get to see vintage NWA.

i understand from a business standpoint that if we're the only ones watching it, we're a small segment of the audience, so they don't need to focus on it. but it also feels like they could get a few interns who could happily and easily put every single thing they own on the network in about a week. it doesn't take that long and its not exactly super hard. interns, man. interns!

More footage means more space means more bandwith means more money. The more stuff they put on the Network, the more money it costs them. They probably don't want to put anything on there that won't cover the costs of translating it to Network working purposes.

They still need to put all of the old content on the network. I'm a bit of a completist and I want to have everything there is. Sure I probably won't watch most of it, but I did watch every RAW from 98, and want to see all of 97, 99,2000 and 2001 as well. Plus lots of other stuff they have. I'm currently unsubscribed but will be rescubscribing when Bork returns.

WWE 24/7 definitely showed a lot more of the territory shows. I remember a lot of GCW, Championship Wrestling from Florida, and more random WWE shows like Superstars and Wrestling Challenge. Although they certainly didn't have the ppv library like now. But that doesn't even make sense, since you can get many of those ppvs on dvd and that just hurts those sales.
