I wish Owens had ripped up the cancer kid's sign

Maybe I'm alone in this, but I want to see heels be real goddamn heels. You can apologize profusely and take the boy backstage and make every single dream he's ever had related to wrestling come true...after the show. But during the show, I say make people HATE the heel.

But perhaps I am thinking back to a simpler time, it is likely had it happened, even with the boy's consent, WWE would have been decimated by the media with calls for the company to fire Owens.

I didn't see it but...I don't know. To me, Cancer is the piledriver of diseases. Even most heels shouldn't support it.

I'm guessing it's more likely that Cena would be the one decimated for daring to "exploit cancer" and point the kid out... At least by the hysterically cynical portion of our fanbase, anyway.

I'm hoping it was just 2edgy4u "dark" humor for attention because the thought of people so embittered they'd hate on a dead child worries me.

Mainly on youtube comments but I saw it elsewhere, too, a lot of "I don't give a shit about some dead kid" or "Why can't they do it for all of them" as if that's an appropriate complaint to lodge at the deceased chid himself or his family.

There are some lines you just don't cross. Honestly, I don't even think they would have ripped up that sign back in the day, either. If it was a "Let's Go Cena" sign, maybe. "I'm beating cancer?" no way.

The first one, yeah pretty shitty, but I can understand the concern some may have about singling out one kid out of all the hundreds or even thousands of kids who were just like Connor. So, I don't think it's fair to lump them with the assholes who say they don't care about some dead kid.

Just no. Some lines you don't cross, and maybe I'm sensitive to it since I watched my dad die from that damn disease, but going after a kid who beat cancer for cheap heel heat is...it's not even low, it's sick. Given that Owens has a child, and if I understand correctly the kid has special needs, no way in hell would he cross that line.

Some things aren't worth any amount of heat.

The problem is, while giving the kid a shout out is absolutely awesome, placing it directly in the angle...it makes no sense. Owens CAN'T respond to it, he CAN'T play off of it, it's just kidna there as the ultimate trump card of, "That child beat cancer, and that kid likes me, so you suck".

Why would father of the year Kevin Owens do that? He's a good man.

They have a hard time writing consistent characters as it is so I don't want them to mess up one of the good ones. Hell they've already made a few minor errors.

That's before you even get into issues of taste and decency and what's appropriate to use for heel heat.
