(official WWE channel, so this is fine to post)
Yeah, we've had a thread recently on this, but today is the actual day 5 years ago that this happened, as reminded to me from Barrett's twitter.
If there was more of a push like the Shield would have gotten, Nexus I think would have been even more fondly remembered.
But yeah, just wanted to point that out.

One of the most surprising, amazing moments I've ever seen in wrestling.
Hey, remember when we all thought Cole was the mastermind behind it?

In retrospect I'm amazed they didn't reveal Hornswoggle as the mastermind

On "Viewer's Choice" Raw five years ago, the Nexus debuted during a main event between CM Punk and John Cena. Their debut remains one of the craziest moments in history. Obviously, their impact fizzled out quickly but what are your thoughts on Nexus? The way they were handled, who became stars out of the group, etc.?

Hate to be "that guy", but Daniel Bryan being released that week deflated a ton of my interest in Nexus. The rest was gone when Team WWE won at Summerslam.

Still one of the most awesome Raw moments of all time.
It's just a shame it all went downhill from there..
Thankfully they got it right a few years later with the Shield.

It felt surreal. It was one of those deals where everyone knows it's scripted, but it's so good you let yourself believe in it.
Of course, they ruined it over and over again. The worst being the Summerslam match. Cena is left alone at the end with mulitiple Nexus members and rolls them over to win after taking finishers and shots on the concrete floor. So dumb.

It was one of the best great surprise moments I have ever seen. Part of the reason why was that Raw might of been the most boring Raw I have ever seen and boom f***ing Nexus comes out of nowhere. Whether they made the show bad and boring intentional or unintentional, it just added the effect to the debut. I also loved how they teased something about Wade Barrett throughout the show in a subtle way like having a video package of him, reminding us he has a title shot, and him standing and watching CM Punk vs. John Cena for a minutes before they came out.

I honestly thought Barrett would take the title off Cena even if only for a short run at some point. Still, firing Cena only to become afraid of him, Randy Orton tearing through them like they were kleenex at a snot party just made it a joke. Nexus 2.0 with the Corre didn't really do anything of consequence, not did the New Nexus. Like so many things in wrestling all the potential in the world, terrible follow through. One thing though, I forgot how long this segment was and how early they took out the commentary.

Honestly, CM Punk being the leader of New Nexus made no sense since he was a victim of their initial attack. I also found it quite funny that the members were getting injured or kicked off the group fairy quickly.

I rememeber watching it that night in YouTube , I didn't see the big deal , then again my only memory of nexus was some stupid angle at the stands

Debut was memorable
Shame it was ruined by booking which pushed Cena at everyone else's expense.
I said pretty soon after their debut that they were merely going to be Putties for Power Ranger Cena to obliterate single handedly.

One of my favorite moments was when Punk went "NOOO!" when they assaulted Cena. Just some great storytelling showing that Nexus were no run-of-the-mill heels.

The angle that got me watching RAW again. Sadly, the angle went down in flames at Summerslam. Edge and Chris Jericho went to Vince and lobbied for Wade to go over. But of course, gotta make Cena the star.

regardless of how it turned out, the nexus was initially pretty rad and was the spark to reignite my interest in wrestling again after almost ten years.

I had been watching for 11 years at this point.
My best friend had been watching for 8.
And our mutual friend had been watching for 2.
All three of us said absolutely nothing for the 10/15 minutes that the Nexus attack ensued, we just all looked at each other after mouths wide open.
The most shocking moment in RAW history in my opinion.
