Too bad Super Cena refused to put barrett over and then the whole thing went tits up. What a wasted opportunity. An NXT 'invasion' done now on the other hand (led by hhh vs vince) could run and run and run.

Was f***ing awesome to begin with. I just thought they were going to give Barrett a title shot, which would've been ok, but then it all kicked off, and boy was I pleased!
Shame it all went to shit so quickly. But that initial hit was just bloody great.

I love how Tarver's idea of trashing the place involved just flipping the mats on the outside over and then afterwards he was like f*** YEAH!!!!!!!

I think the biggest impact it made was showing that a completely untested commodity could become a believable main event act immediately. WWE had struggled since 2001 to produce the kind of excitement that a jump from WCW could provide, and had largely failed. Debuts had started to become uniformly lackluster, and many guys had an awkward time climbing the ladder to the top. Nexus was a pretty gutsy move in concept - throw out eight guys with absolutely no TV history and push them. The Nexus angle itself didn't maintain the quality or momentum, but I feel like WWE has gotten bolder with high-card debuts since then.

I honestly thought Barrett would take the title off Cena even if only for a short run at some point. Still, firing Cena only to become afraid of him, Randy Orton tearing through them like they were kleenex at a snot party just made it a joke. Nexus 2.0 with the Corre didn't really do anything of consequence, not did the New Nexus. Like so many things in wrestling all the potential in the world, terrible follow through. One thing though, I forgot how long this segment was and how early they took out the commentary. Honestly, CM Punk being the leader of New Nexus made no sense since he was a victim of their initial attack. I also found it quite funny that the members were getting injured or kicked off the group fairy quickly. I figured he wanted to take over the group as an act of revenge against their leader.

And just before the Nexus showed up, we had shitty A-Team shenanigans on an otherwise moribund Raw.

Hell of an ending to RAW but yeah with Bryan getting suspended and after SummerSlam it was downhill. It did make the summer interesting.

I loved the idea of it, but if WWE had intentions on turning these eight wrestlers into this dominant stable that was a force to be reckon with, then maybe they should have spent more time during the first season of NXT doing just that, instead of promoting them as hapless goobers who were so inept that they couldn't even complete an obstacle course without failing helplessly.

If I recall correctly, he wasn't just suspended. Bryan was fired.

I'm almost surprised they haven't done a Nexus reunion There was that time when Barrett wrestled Gabriel on a random Raw and some people started to chant for Nexus, which apparently at least led to a discussion of the possibility of a reunion.

Loved the debut and some of the stuff after. Video package for Summerslam is AMAZING.
But here's the thing.....they all kinda sucked. Bryan was the one guy who could have good matches consistently. Good lord did the Barrett/Orton matches suuuuuuuuck.
