Did not see a thread on this and did a few searches.
Reports from various wrestling news sites say that both Okada and Nakamura received try-outs today. Not sure how locked in they are with NJPW, but it would be absolutely devastating in the worst possible way if they poached those guys from the roster.
Of course, Nakamura in WWE has unlimited potential, so strictly as a fan I'm split right down the middle here, but I guess probably nothing comes of this anyway.

Nakamura will not work, 96.9% of what makes him incredible is his stiff as hell strong style, The other percent going to his sweet dance moves.

Too late for NJPW to get Naito in the elite mix?

Wouldn't surprise me. I don't think it means much either. Just wrestlers keeping options open. Also a bargaining chip come contract renewal time. "I tried out with WWE, if you don't want to pay me X I'll go to them" etc.

Vince McMahon: Okada... have you ever met this beast named Samoa Joe? I think you'd be awesome as his follower. I see a big future in it. You like cartoon books? Ever here of Green Hornet?

None of these NJPW guys have "unlimited potential" in WWE. I don't think either can cut a decent promo in English and as such WWE would never seriously push them. Much like they'll never seriously push Hideo Itami on the main roster.

I have a feeling he would quit if Vince brought up that idea again or at least tell him it was already done and failed. EDIT: Actually, all he would have to do is tell Vince another company did it and Vince would be disgusted and not do the idea. Vince isn't going to be labeled a copycat of terrible gimmicks from another company if he can help it.

Much like they'll never seriously push Hideo Itami on the main roster. Point taken, although Itami has been given nothing but star treatment thus far in NXT so your prediction remains to be seen. Correction then, unlimited potential in what they could do with him, probably very limited in what they would do, although the last year or so of NXT has made me do a big shift on my thinking in terms of who WWE will and will not pull the trigger on.

Okada could be huge. Nakamura....I'm conflicted. I legitimately think he's the best wrestler on the planet today, but I just don't see him "fitting" in the WWE.

No way in hell will they get any sort of fair chance in WWE (main roster) unless it is in NXT.
Anyways I doubt anything comes of this and like someone said this is more than likely a tactic in contract negotiations.

Considering that both guys are probably the 2 of people the current NJPW owner mentioned as those who want to leave when their contracts end to go to WWE, I'm not shocked. Okada is the most WWE made New Japan guy outside of Tanahashi workrate wise. He knows and speaks English. Nakamura has an undeniable charisma and showmanship. Factor in that WWE been looking to bring them into the fold for quite a while, they won't f*** them over like most think they will. WWE didn't give Itami the stereotypical Asian gimmicks. I doubt they do it with them.

I met Nakamura and he can speak perfect English. So I'm sure he can handle the WWE promo

Yeah except for the most recent NXT callup's like Paige, Kevin Owens, The Shield, The Wyatt Family, Lucha Dragons, Rusev, Neville all treated like big stars that belong the moment they got called up. Hell even f***ing Adam Rose was undefeated for months and made everyone look stupid for months until WWE finally gave up on him and the crowd really turned on him.

Okada and Nakamura don't jump unless they're getting the red-carpet treatment like Balor, Joe, Owens, and Itami. They're not gonna "pay their dues" like Rollins, Ambrose, Kaval, Cesaro, and D-Bry had to.

If you're a big time foreign international star, why jump ship to a foreign Country away from home unless you're going to get the red carpet treatment and have potential to be taken seriously and get pushed and paid huge. I don't doubt that.
