My guess is Applebloom was a homeless orphan who rested in the woods for shelter.
Big Macintosh finds her and feeling sorry for her, takes her back for food and warmth.
AJ and Granny Smith agree she can stay for a little while.
and eventually adopt her..
Where Applebloom originally came from..Nopony knows, but it matters not.

Because she's jealous of Apple Bloom actually being adopted while she is still an orphan.
