JULY in WWE PPV HISTORY

Often forgotten with SummerSlam fast approaching behind, since 1995, the month of July has had a long history of hosting annual pay-per-view events. From the early days of In Your House and my personal favourite, Canadian Stampede, to the first PPV featuring the WCW/ECW Invasion, Money in the Bank 2011, to the third (and second in July) Battleground this Sunday. Fully Loaded 2000 is one of my favourite PPV's, and the retrospective doesn't even mention Rikishi's splash from the cage.

Vengeance 2003 is the first PPV that happened after I started watching, it's a great event and not just because of my nostalgia.

MITB 2011 is still probably my favorite PPV of the modern era.

Two of the best crowds ever (Canadian Stampede and MitB 2011) make those my favorite two out of the July PPV's. But, overall, not a bad month for PPV's considering that they are just full-ins mostly.

Canadian Stampede was a great atmosphere. I love that pay per view.

Always had a soft spot in my heart for Fully Loaded 97

Sable's boobs
Hot main event (mediocre match though)
JJ jobbing to VV
X-Pac vs D'Lo (EU title being at its most prestigious at that point)
Weird HHH vs Rock 30min Iron Man Match with plenty botches and miscues

I like it as it's such an easy watch. All decent to good matches, back when the In Your Houses were two hours long. No dull moments whatsoever.

Agreed. It helps that I'm a huge Hart fan, but those introductions during the main event one by one was a very cool moment,

I know it's wwe history, but I gotta give a mention to wcw's great american bash 89, a great great ppv and atmosphere.

MITB 2011. Punk/Cena alone was enough. Cena and Punk had perfect rivals in eachother. No one will ever work as great as Punk did with Cena. No, not even "I'M PULLING AT MY HAIR AND AND OPENING MY EYES WIDE SO THAT SHOWS IM BEING INTENNNNSEEEEE" Edge. Great rivals. Great match. Great crowd. Great angle. Great commentary. Great build up. Great ending. An absolutely perfect match.

Then you throw on both MITB's and the fact that Orton actually lost to Christian. Nothing since has touched this PPV...

In fact, I don't think there's ever been a PPV on my birthday.

Personally, I've never seen the Canadian Stampede PPV which is wrong because I was born and live in Calgary. I gotta get on that.

Canadian Stampede is absolutely made by that white hot main event. Steve Austin's heel swag is perfect foil to Bret.

Fully Loaded 2000 is probably the most underrated card of all time.

Even Invasion had some great matches and the novelty of the WCW guys vs WWF guys, despite how it all turned out.

Came here to mention Rikishi splashing Val Venis off the cage at Fully Loaded 2000 (and still losing!) being a particular favourite memory of mine, but Im glad i wasn't the only one to remember it.

Just watched Vengeance 2002 for the first time in years last night. Was a great show! On top of the main events, there's a pretty good Cruiserweight title match with Noble and Kidman.
