Because of the 'Hogan's legacy' thread, the juxtaposition of a few posts in a row... Hogan's colours are red and yellow. Hogan's skin is orange. Put red and yellow together, and what colour do you get?

He also has red, white and blue running through his veins according to WCW so presumably on closer inspection that orange skin would have like a pinkish hue

He is an entomologist (he doesn't study ents), and breeds a specialized version of the Cochineal. These bugs are mashed into a paste to make his patented tanning rub. Really a deep, rich, revivifying skin rub.

Really a deep, rich, revivifying skin rub. It gets a bit cross when you realize that the cochineal is the insect often used to produce red food dyes. Would you like some Starburst Flavoreds? Now with Bollea!

You know, I always figured he'd be paler, being the rare white Bengal tiger and all.

Hogan used to actually be tan. Like Thunderlips Hogan was just...a guy that had a tan.
Of course that doesn't apply now, but white trunks thunderlips was a natural tan (I think)
