Hello, everyone! Using the magic of Fire Pro Wrestling Returns, I have created a tournament of massive proportions: 32 mixed martial artists come to PRID....er, sorry, BLADE, in a openweight mixed martial arts tournament where only one man will come out on top!
These are the rules of the tournament:
1. It is contested under the normal wrestling match, as opposed to the SWA Rules or Gruesome Fighting matches. 2. It is Submissions Only. 3. The ability to toss someone intentionally over the rope is turned off. 4. There is no rounds, and no time limits. There must be a winner! 5. It is hosted at the Tokyo Dome. 6. The COM's skill is set at 10. 7. It will be simmed at the normal 100% speed. 8. There is no rope breaks. 9. The Lumberjack option is on, they come back into the right immediately, if they somehow fall out of the ring. 10. There is no DQ's. 11. CRITICALS are set to High.
Now, with that said, here are the 32 fighters, and the 16 matches of the first round:
ROUND 1:
1. Hidehiko Yoshida VS Kazushi Sakuraba 2. Kiyoshi Tamura VS Ikuhisa Minowa 3. Mirko Cro Cop VS Don Frye 4. Kazuyuki Fujita VS Ken Shamrock 5. Igor Vovchanchyn VS Wanderlei Silva 6. Hiromitsu Kanehara VS Yoshihisa Yamamoto 7. Bob Sapp VS Paulo "Giant" Silva 8. Akira Maeda VS Nobuhiko Takeda 9. Rickson Gracie VS Royce Gracier 10. Mike Bernardo VS Gary Goodridge 11. Roland Bock VS Aleksandr Karelin 12. Kevin Randleman VS Rampage Jackson 13. Kazuhiko Ogasawara VS Volk Han 14. Mark Coleman VS Semmy Schlit 15. Tsuyoshi Kosaka VS Bitsadze Tariel 16. Fedor Emelianenko VS Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira
Tomorrow, I will sim the first four matches, then report who won, how it went and how they won. I have added a poll for you, my fellow FAN'ers, to guess who will win. Then, the next day, I will sim the next four matches, and you get the idea.
Also, remember, this game was set in 2005, so remember that when you think about who to pick.

For Day #1 of our tournament, let's show our first four fights.
Fight #1: Hidehiko Yoshida VS Kazushi Sakuraba Our first fight pits Judo gold medalist, Hidehiko Yoshida against the Gracie Killer, Kazushi Sakuraba. Both men's CRITICAL skill is submissions, so I expect both to try for plenty of them.
Fight #2: Kiyoshi Tamura VS Ikuhisa Minowa The second fight sees shoot wizard, Kiyoshi Tamura against Pancrase alumni, Ikuhisa Minowa. Tamura has an orthodox moveset based off shoot style wrestling, while Minowa has some...unique moves in his arsenal.
Fight #3: Mirko Cro Cop VS Don Frye Our first fight with non-Japanese fighters is a clash of strikers as Mirko Cro Cop takes on Tom Sellick's long-lost brother, Don Frye. Cro Cop's striking abilities are akin to how the K-1 fighters operate, while Frye is more of a ground-and-pounder.
Fight #4: Kazuyuki Fujita VS Ken Shamrock And the final fight for the first day sees two men who had success in both pro wrestling and mixed martial arts, Kazuyuki Fujita and Ken Shamrock. Both's movesets are based off that face, as while they have mount abilities, they do have the occasional maneuver that you usually don't see in most MMA bouts.
These bouts will be simmed tomorrow, and the poll will be up until 12:00 P.M., Mountain Standard Time (Of course, Arizona doesn't observe DST, so if you're EST, three hours behind)

And now, the results of the first four fights of Round 1:
1. Yoshida VS Sakuraba: The opening match of the PRIDE Grand Prix saw two of the Japanese congregation's biggest heroes, Hidehiko Yoshida and Kazushi Sakuraba, clash in a bout pitting Judo against Catch Wrestling. Sakuraba is known as the Gracie Killer, and he used his knowledge of how to counter Jujutsu, controlling the pace of the fight. While Yoshida did managed to lock on a few submissions, Sakuraba was never in any danger, and lifting Yoshida up ina mount position, he then punched the Judo olympic medalist to the point where he could no longer defend himself, forcing the ref to stop it.
Winner: Kazushi Sakuraba (6:39, Rev Hanging Punch)
2. Tamura VS Minowa: The second fight followed the first, of two Japanese fighters fighting against eachother, with Sakuraba's rival, Kiyoshi Tamura, taking on the boisterous and unorthodox Ikuhisa Minowa. This was a very closely-fought battle, both fighters hit eachother with a plethora of strikes, throws and submissions, a true clash of the titans. However, Tamura's mastery of submissions payed off, eventually catching Minowa in a cross armbreaker, forcing him to submit.
Winner: Kiyoshi Tamura (17:10, X Arm Hold)
3. Cro Cop VS Frye: Now, in the third fight, we had a break of both foreign fighters, and both more strikers then submission artists as Mirko Crop Cop and Don Frye faced off. Frye's durability is truly impressive...which is good, as it was the only thing that saved him as Cro Cop controlled the fight, blasting him with big strike after big strike. Though the outcome was never in doubt, Frye managed to survive one dozen of Cro Cop's infamous high kicks! Alas, his durability could only go thus far, as Cro Cop managed to mount him and blast him with mounted punches. Frye did not get knocked out, but could no longer defend himself, forcing the ref to call it.
Winner: Mirko Cro Cop (10:07, Punch)
4. Fujita VS Shamrock: The last fight covered for now was as much of a mixed martial art fight as it was a pro wrestling bout, as Kazuyuki Fujita and Ken Shamrock did as much double-leg tackles and cross armbreakers, as they did powerbombs and suplexes. Fujita's highlights include running the ropes to kicking a seated Shamrock in the face, and utilizing suplex powerslams and powerbombs, while Shamrock went for a huracanrana, forgetting there was no pinfalls, and even putting Fujita on the top rope, and sending him flying with a belly-to-belly suplex!
However, Fujita's mastery of using grounded knee strikes were more useful then his other tricks, weakning Shamrock enough for him to catch The World's Most Dangerous Man with a rear naked choke.
Winner: Kazuyuki Fujita (10:01, Body Choke Sleeper)

Fight #5: Igor Vovchanchyn VS Wanderlei Silva Two of PRIDE's most deadliest strikes clash as the Ukrainian Powerhouse, Igor Vovchanchyn takes on the Axe Murderer, Wanderlei Silva. Vochanchyn's striking expertise lies in his arms, favoring mounted punches and his "Russian Hook", a deadly overhand right, while Silva goes for kicks and knees.
Fight #6: Hiromitsu Kanehara VS Yoshihisa Yamamoto The sixth fight of round 1 is somewhat a diet version of the eighth match, as UWF-I long-time veteran takes on RINGS long-time veteran Yoshihisa Yamamoto. Both are skilled at shoot style wrestling, and will likely fight a similar style here tonight.
Fight #7: Bob Sapp VS Paulo "Giant" Silva Let's be honest with ourselves, it wouldn't be a PRIDE event with at least one freak show fight, and boy is this fight one of them. Bob Sapp takes on Paulo "Giant" Silva, two large, powerful men with zero technical abilities, in what should be a very interesting bout.
Fight #8: Akira Maeda VS Nobuhiko Takeda For the last bout of night two, two of shoot wrestling and mixed martial art's greatest Japanese legends, Akira Maeda and Nobuhiko Takeda, step into the ring one more time, to prove their style of fighting is supreme. Who will prevail, RINGS or UWF-I?

The poll is still off.
What you need to do is list each fighter instead of each match Bro.

5. Vochanchyn VS Silva: Our opening bout saw two masters of striking-based offense, Igor Vovchanchyn and Wanderlei Silva, square off in a bout that features a whole lot of mounted punches and knee strikes. And I mean, a lot of them. Eventually, Vovchanchyn won out, trapping Silva in a front sprawl and blasting his head with knee strikes until Silva could no longer defend himself, forcing the ref to call it for him.
Winner: Igor Vovchanchyn (13:05, Crown Knee Kick)
6. Kanehara VS Yamamoto: The sixth fight of round 1 had promotional pride on the line as UWF-I's Hiromitsu Kanehara took on RINGS' Yoshihisa Yamamoto. As both are shoot wrestlers, they worked a similar style, and as such, were very evenly matches, neither man unable to get a advantage for long. Plenty of kicks, supelxes and submissions were exchanged, until Kanehara managed to get a cross armbar on Yamamoto that he could not escape from.
Winner: Hiromitsu Kanehara (18:30, X Arm Hold)
7. Sapp VS Silva: Fight #7 was not exactly a clash of technical wizards, as it was to big, brutes butting heads, in Bob Sapp and Giant Silva. The two fought a match more akin to pro wrestling, then mixed marital arts, utilizing suplexes, body slams, chokeslams, powerbombs and the like more then armbars and leglocks. Unfortunately for both, neither could knock eachother out, and both did not utilize submissions, resulting in a long, plodding match until Silva got the bright idea to squeeze Sapp's injured ribs, forcing him to give up.
Winner: Paulo "Giant" Silva (16:47, Bear Hug)
8. Maeda VS Takeda: Our last bout for the evening was a legends bout, as Akira Maeda and Nobuhiko Takeda, two men with a long, storied past, fought against eachother one more time. However, Maeda completely dominated the fight, blocking Takeda's strikes, and putting numerous submissions on, catching him in a inescapable half-nelson choke before the ten minute mark.
Winner: Akira Maeda (8:54, Taz-Mission)

Fight #9: Rickson Gracie VS Royce Gracie: The Gracie Family is one of MMA's largest and most respected clans, so it qas only natural for a Grand Prix of this size to have them, but the luck of the lottery draw meant both have to face eachother! Brothers Rickson and Royce, two of the Gracie's highest elites, will take on eachother in a clash of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu masters.
Fight #10: Mike Bernardo VS Gary Goodridge: Our two K-1 reps also had some bad luck, the lottery draw also paring them up as Mike Bernardo and Gary Goodridge swap out boxing gloves for open-fingered ones, in what will likely be an all-out slugfest.
Fight #11: Roland Bock VS Aleksandr Karelin: In contrast to fight #10, Olympic Greco-Roman wrestling gold medalist, Aleksandr Karelin, takes on European catch wrestling champion, Roland Bock, in what will be a mat classic, both men superb grapplers.
Fight #12: Kevin Randleman VS Quinton Jackson: And our last fight for night three is yet another meeting of similar styles as KEvin Randleman and Quinton Jackson face off. Both utilize offense based on grappling to get a opponent down and then pummeling them with strikes. While Randleman is the better striker of the two, Jackson's grappling is more extensive, and he has been known to surprise his opponents with powerbombs and piledrivers.

9. Gracie VS Gracie: In a clash between brothers and BJJ masters, both Royce and Rickson Gracie fought a fight dedicated to working on the ground, trying for submissions or ground-and-pound strikes. Despite both being evenly matched, eventually Royce caught Rickson in a inescapable mount and pummpled him with punches until the ref called for the TKO, ending his brother's undefeated martial arts record.
Winner: Royce Gracie (13:06, Punch)
10. Goodridge VS Bernardo: As the two representatives of K-1, both fighters went for striking-based offense, Bernardo opting for a more standing-based kickboxing style and Goodridge for a more ground-orientated offense. This would pay off, as Bernardo wasn't able to land as much strikes as needed, eventually succumbing to Goodridge's ground and pound.
Winner: Gary Goodridge (14:18, Mount Punches)
11. Bock VS Karelin: Unlike the last fight, the following was a mat wrestling clinic as Roland Bock and Aleksandr Karelin fought eachother to a near standstill, both slamming eachother with suplex after suplex, neither man giving an inch. But one can take only so many of them, and Bock's guard was weakened, allowing Karelin to catch him with a surprise submission.
Winner: Aleksandr Karelin (16:40, Shoulder Hold)
12. Randleman VS Jackson: For night three's last fight, Kevin Randleman and Quinton Jackson, both experts in wrestling and striking, went to war. Randleman opted for a pure striking offense while Jackson's was an even mix, even powerbombing Randleman three times in a row and nailing him with a piledriver. But it was a sudden and swift leg-based submission that got Rampage the deuce.
Winner: Quinton Jackson (12:36, Rev Achilles Hold)

13. Ogasawara VS Han: For the start of the last round one matches, saw WKA fighter Kazuhiko Ogasawara against RINGS' Volk Han. Han evaded the Karate-based offense of Ogawsawara, repeatedly grounding him and wearing him down with submissions. With Ogaawsawara unable to turn the tides, the Sambo specialist forced him to submit.
Winner: Volk Han (7:28, Triangle Scissors)
14. Schlit VS Coleman: Semmy Schlit earned honor tonight, as he was the first fighter to score a knockout in his fight against Mark Coleman, cracking Coleman in the jaw with a right hook that send The Hammer crashing down, as the ref called it.
Winner: Semmy Schilt (7:23, Hook -> CRITICAL)
15. Kosaka VS Tariel: A meeting between RINGS members saw the quickest fight yet in the Grand Prix, as Georgian karateka, Bitsadze Tariel pummeled shoot wrestler Tsuoyshi Kosaka, with a variety of strikes, with Kosaka unable to mount a counter, before kneeing him in the face, that sent him to the mat, completely unconscious. Tariel won in under five minutes.
Winner: Bitsadze Tariel (4:23, Auto Face Knee Lift -> CRITICAL)
16. Emelianenko VS Nogueira: The last fight of the first round ended on a bang as two of PRIDE's greatest, Fedor Emelianenko and Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira, squared off, in a battle of strikes VS submissions. The majority of the fight was spent on the ground, with Emelianenko going for a ground and pound and Nogueira with his submissions, neither man, giving an inch. But, after a war of attrition, Nogueira managed to catch Emelianenko with a arm-triangle choke, squeezing the air out and forcing him to submit.
Winner: Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira (14:35, Shoulder Hold)
