I freely admit to be a being a regular patron of such stores. A good deal of my cleaning products come from them. Whenever I need office supplies like notepads, pens, or highlighters, they are usually my first port of call. Party necessities like paper and plastic plates, cups, and cutlery are also typically purchased there on the occasions I play host to such gatherings. I even get some holiday decorations from them. But there are some things I find in these stores that it boggles my mind to think of anyone buying in such a place. Case in point: I wouldn't put much stock in a home pregnancy test that I purchased in a dollar store. And while I do sometimes do my own oil changes to save money, I'm less than inclined to use oils from a dollar store for such purposes. Anyone else got a particular dollar store item that made them just stop and go "WAT???"

Dollar General, Family Dollar, or Dollar Tree? Dollar Tree is the only one here where things are actually a dollar.

In about 2000 I bought a plant in a little 3" pot from the 99c store. No matter how infrequently I watered it, the little plant kept growing. I kept moving it to bigger and bigger pots and eventually I just stuck it in the ground in the back yard. It took over the flowerbed and grew ten feet wide and eight feet tall. This past spring, I cut it down to the ground hoping it would die off during the dry summer months. Instead it popped out a bunch of new shoots and is already two feet tall again.

I got the absolute worst WCW coloring book from Dollar Tree back in like 1999. Without the names on the pages I would have had no idea who most of them were because the illustrations were so bad.

My favorite fabric softener suavitel is there, and I found my favorite Buddha head statue there. It was a dirty grey color, so I painted it a champagne-ish gold. People think I bought it at the world market, but nope, dollar store. I like to buy incense and plain white candles there.
And the particular dollar tree that I go too always has cute shit to put in goodie bags for my sons classes.

That sounds like a good plot for a Sy Fy tv movie

I don't know if anyone else has ever used it but there is this cleaner called LA's Totally Awesome Cleaner that does an incredible job. While there are multiple products with that name the one I am talking about is yellow and comes in a clear bottle.
About 10 miles or so from my house there is this Dollar General Market which is exactly what it sounds like a Dollar General with a full grocery store inside. I sometimes go in there when I am in the area.

I use this too for cleaning tile and general cleaning in the bathrooms....this stuff is amazing for the price. Also, the 99-Cent store by my old place used to have these chips that were dusted in Ghost Pepper chile powder which was damn amazing...hotter than hell, but really good.
