I don't think Cena needs to stop doing that move. In fact, I think MORE wrestlers need to start pulling "flippy" stuff out of their asses if it means making the fans accept that they can wrestle and know how to work. Yes, I think we all want to see Big Show try to do the Red Arrow. Well, no. But Big Show's a giant and doesn't have to pull that stuff off. But everyone below 6'5 and 270 lbs could do well by adding such moves to their repertoire. As butt ugly as his attempts at cruiserweight style moves tend to be, this stuff is the reason why Cena's name can be spoken in the same breath as the "workrate" guys. I know some have described Cena's matches as "bad RoH matches", but "bad RoH matches" are better than what most "WWE Superstars" are able/allowed to pull off. I'd rather see everyone on the roster doing ugly hurricanranas and putting on finisher kick out fests that would make Davey Richards say "tone it down a notch" than people just deciding that they "can't" wrestle.

No offense intended Catch_Us, but this is a pretty ridiculous post. People didn't start liking/respecting Cena because he started doing flippy shit. Dude can actually wrestle.

The same cornballs that chanted "You Can't Wrestle!" aren't just gonna hop on your dick because you aped some popular indie moves.
This trend in WWE is gonna reach a peak and the fallout that comes with it isn't gonna be pleasant, in a few ways.
Look at Randy Orton. He gets it. When you're already over, you don't have to kill yourself for this shit.

I watched the video and couldn't really tell honestly. The way they played it off almost looked like a simple botch in general.

He could retire and have enough money for his grand kids that will never be born because he doesn't want to procreate with Nikki or anyone to be set for their life. No he does it for the love of the game. Love of performance. Love of his fans. Sure he could be half ass it and be a bore like Orton but no Cena wants to wrestle. He wants to be better then yesterday with his craft in the ring. That's commendable.

To me, that's just kinda...dumb. The whole reason why wrestling became a work is so people could get more out of less. You can have exciting matches without doing all these goofy ass moves with good storytelling and drama. If you want to do the opposite of that, more power to you but I can't back that mindset. Work smart, not hard.

OWENS BEING CARELESS! Honestly the botch doesn't look that bad but it might be the angle of the footage.

The thing that bugs me is, if he wants to add new moves to his arsenal, that's awesome, but there's DEFINITELY a way to do that that plays to his strengths. Find power guys on the indies, figure out what they do. Emulating the flippy guys by doing moves beyond your reach is a bad way to go. That's the only move he does that irks me The frankencena is a move he can hit on orton or cesaro. On shorter guys he always takes the brunt of the bump. I mean dude should be doing military presses and gorilla press slams. Or pumphandle slams. And shoulder breakers. Moves that he can do The swinging x factor and electric chair are great moves. He has the strength and dexterity to pull those off. Code red and the hurricanrana

One of the symptoms of the sad state of match psychology is guys feeling like they have to do moves that either don't suit their character at all, or that they can't really perform properly. Sometimes it's both. A guy like Cena shouldn't really be doing 'flippy' anything. It doesn't really fit his overall style or who Cena the character is. You're supposed to be able to tell a story out there, the moves are only one part of that.
But then, this is also why we get at least four finisher kickouts per 'big' match now, and it looks like playstation.
