And one more, from the syndication side: Man, I used to watch Sonic cartoon all the time as a kid. I also remember watching Mega Man on Sunday mornings at 5:30 a.m. I will say that I remember the TV was on loud that I woke up my dad while watching it, and he comes to my room and asked me why I was watching cartoons that early.

This thread gives me a rough idea of some of your ages. While I'm familiar with most of the cartoons mentioned, I associate more with the older cartoons.

The only reason I'm aware of this show's existence is because it was on directly before Power Rangers.

God that intro took me back, it was the Jamie Theakston and Zoe Ball combo for me although I do vaguely remember Andi Peters and Emma Forbes.

Them and the leprechauns. I remember when Andi and Emma left, both for different reasons. Andi was jumping to ITV (where he's remained virtually ever since and still crops up today on some things) so it was a big deal to us kids. We called him a traitor. Did the same when Andi Crane went to ITV, but he at least had awesome shows at the time like Motormouth and Bad Influence. Peters must have been more of a producer back then, and did little presenting. Emma left because she fell pregnant.

I became cognizant of Saturday morning cartoons fairly quickly, so I still have some fragmented memories of some of the late '70s stuff (notably, it was how I was introduced to Godzilla). The early and mid-80s though, man, that was THE time to be a kid, to me. In hindsight, most of the shows - created by companies like Hanna-Barbara, DIC, Sunbow and Filmation - were not great in quality, but there I was every morning watching them. One thing I remember fondly most about the cartoons wasn't even the actual cartoons; it was the ads in comics (usually Marvel), sometimes a full page, often a 2-page spread, announcing a station's new Saturday line-up. Those were great. My Saturday mornings came to an end sometime in the early 90s, somewhere around the time of X-Men and Power Rangers. I followed X-Men for a season, but little else, and once I got bored with it, that was it for my weekly tradition.

I remember Robotech and Tranzor Z, for a while at least, came on first at like 7:00 am or something. I'd plop down in front of the tv with a bowl of cereal, just a pot belly and pair of underwear, that was the best.

That's another thing I miss, 70's-80's comic book ads. And where can I get some Bonkers candy?

I remember finally getting a Fox affiliate added to my family's cable package in fall of 1994 (Good Old WUTV Buffalo) and then getting a few WB affiliates in 1995 along with TBS. So from 1994-1996 my Saturday routine was: Morning: Where on Earth is Carmen Sandiego? Eek The Cat, Batman, X-Men, Spiderman, Animaniacs, Earthworm Jim, Freakazoid, The Tick. Noon: WWF Superstars. Afternoon: Hercules, Xena: Warrior Princess, Deep Space Nine. Evening: WCW Saturday Night.

I know it's nostalgia tinted glasses, but kids these days don't know the excitement of waiting all week in school for Saturday morning to come and kids all over the country would park themselves in front of the TV from like 8-11/12 watching cartoons and the live action shows. To kids during that time, it was "our" time and our day to just be a kid. Watch cartoons in the morning while eating sugary cereal, then spending the afternoon playing with toys, playing with friends outside, or playing video games. In the evening could consist of movies, video arcades, etc.
The shows I watched on Saturday mornings were...
Muppet Babies Alvin and the Chipmunks Pee-Wee's Playhouse Hey Vern, It's Ernest! Camp Candy Pro Stars Real Ghostbusters Flintstone Kids Pup Named Scooby Doo Garfield and Friends TMNT
Then, of course, the WWF programming that came on around the 11am-noon hour.
The funny thing is, while I was still plenty young, I stopped really watching Saturday morning cartoons around '91-92. I spent a lot of those Saturday mornings playing video games. I missed out watch a lot of the Fox Kids shows like Batman, X-Men, etc, which I regret. I still owned some of the X-Men toy line like Wolverine, Storm, Apocalypse, and Archangel despite not being a regular watcher of the cartoon back then.
