I seem to be in the very small minority that still loves the 1st seasons. Granted the animation has not aged well, but I still like them in their own little charming way. Yeah let's also hate on the Simpsons' brillant first seasons because of visual reasons...ugh, hate this reasoning Absolutely agree with you, whether it was silly Scuzzlebutt or nutjob Ms.Crabtree, season 1 was awesome (minus a few too many curses used), season 2 was a bit disappointing but had some real gems (Spookyfish, wacky Jimbo and Ned), season 3 also lacked something but had some alltime faves (Succubus, Chinpokomon, Hot Tub)

The Garrison trans episode. What happened with the Ramsay's? Yeah, everything involving Mrs. Garrison looks so bad now. It wasn't even really funny at the time, just shocking. Now it just seems stupid. Eh, I liked the 300 parody episode.

The episode where they drive out Californee way to find some Internets is even more potent now.

The early ones still hold up comedy wise. Plus it's nice to see characters who don't appear much anymore. The Great Expectations episode. Kudos to them for going away from the format but it just didn't really work. That was bad back when it first aired anyway. See, I don't really agree, personally. The first couple of seasons were funny when I was in 5th grade, but the humor just doesn't really hold up for me. There are some occasional funny moments, but by and large, I have no reason to go back and watch those episodes.

Butters Very Own Episode where they associated the Ramseys with O.J. Simpson and Gary Condit. To this day, I don't think Matt or Trey ever publicly released a public apology to the Ramsey family but they certainly should. They did sort of. They said they regretted doing it in hindsight

Didn't the Simpson's already have a thread about this?

Now it just seems stupid. Garrison was actually for a long time one of my favourite characters in the show, and dare I say the only South Park character that actually showed some kind of development over the series. The way in which the hints of homosexuality were there in the first few series which evolved into an obviously closeted character who refused to come out due to his own narrow-mindedness and then eventually embracing it and going all out with it. Mrs Garrison completely ruined all that by basically using it as an excuse to make Garrison as ridiculous and as perverted as possible. In some ways you could compare it to when Goldust became TAFKAG.

Most of the episodes in recent Seasons. The past like 7 years are just so lazy creatively. All about celebrities or fads with the only (very temporary) appeal being "WOW THAT JUST HAPPENED LIKE 6 DAYS AGO".

I think the episodes that address the issue or scandal du jour aged pretty badly. Same with the Mrs. Garrison ones, though the 300 parody remains one of my favorite episodes and a diamond in an otherwise extremely rough period. I also have less tolerance for the episodes where the show became a soapbox for Matt and Trey's viewpoints on politics and religion than I used to, even when I agreed with the points made.
I'd say the Towelie episodes, but then I thought those episodes were garbage when they first aired. So I can't say they aged poorly so much as they always sucked.

The J-Lo/Ben Affleck episode was on tonight, it's aged like a fine wine, still hilarious.

Douche vs. Turd happened almost 4 election cycles ago, and it's still relevant every time.

The Brittney Spears one that ends with Miley Cyrus being next turned out pretty accurate.

Most of the episodes that focused on current events at the time they were released make little sense today.
My favourite episode is a tie between Asspen and Jared Has Aides. I love season 6.

Douche vs. Turd happened almost 4 election cycles ago, and it's still relevant every time. I disagree, I think the episode's a perfect example of South Park's biggest problem and one of the biggest problems in the world: False Equivalency. The idea that every position should be respect and moderation is always the correct way to go. Sometimes there's an objectively good and bad choice.

The idea that every position should be respect and moderation is always the correct way to go. Sometimes there's an objectively good and bad choice. We're certainly not going to take this down any roads that would break the rules, here, but I think we can discuss this without going there: I think part of what makes some of the South Park "soapbox" episodes a bit rough to sit through another time or two is connected to this idea, in that they take any position people feel strongly about and automatically take it to the furthest extreme in an attempt to make the position look silly or dangerous. This works fine for comedic reasons a lot of the time, but unfortunately they spent so many years doing frequent "soapbox" episodes that it felt like they were working overtime to make profound points on tons of issues, and doing things this way just didn't work too well, to me. If you just want to point out the absurd parts of existence, including people's points of view, then that's just smart comedy. If you then want to make a sweeping "Don't you see?" ending speech, then you can't really always treat thing as "look at how craaaaaaazy anybody with a passionately held opinion is!"

I know I said I don't generally like the episodes with political/social stuff but I must admit that just thinking about 'The Catholic Boat' makes me laugh so hard.
