I was absolutely amazed by Ong-Bak, and I just now discovered the trailer for Tony Jaa's next film: The Protector.
This looks like Seven types of awesome.
I haven't been this excited for an action movie since Terminator 3. However, this should turn out better than that (T3 was decent, but it made me wish they had tried harder).
TONY FLIPPIN' JAA!

It's not Jaa, but there's another Thai action movie around with insane choreography like Ong Bak (might be the same studio) called Born to Fight. It's about this group of Olympians and a cop on vacation who visit this remote village somewhere in the jungle as a goodwill trip, but the village gets taken over by terrorists, and it's up to the badass cop and his group of Olympians (think wooden objects being used like soccer balls being kicked into someone's face and a gymnast flipping around on the parallel bars and kicking dudes in the face). It's most redeeming factor, besides the amazing fight scenes, is the nonstop Thai nationalism that, if the movie was made in America instead, would instantly make it the most patriotic movie EVER... more than Rocky IV.

I haven't seen a lot of Jaa, what other movies has he done that were great?

There's no way this man won't be the biggest martial arts star within the next year.
With that, I have to ask, is this Protector like some kind of re-make of a sort of Jackie Chan's the Protector? Or am I being dumb?

I don't know if these movies were good (I haven't seen them yet) but he was in: Mortal Kombat Annihilation (as a stunt double for Robin Shou) Spirited Killer Mission Hunter 2 The Bodyguard This ' Protector' is not a remake of Jackie Chan's Protector. The real name of Tony Jaa's movie is Tom-Yum-Goong.
