Storyline? Those weird videos were part of a storyline?
If I remember correctly, the suicide video was done so that he could kill the Matt Hardy persona and debut kinda like a new gimmick. It was really embarrasing, even his own family was embarrased, Jeff Hardy's wife tore him a new asshole. it's not Matt, it's MATTHEW! |

Dudes been pretty good to even great in certain moments since he went to ROH a few years back sadly all people want to believe about the guy is that he's still the suicidal jackass who ate grapes in a video like 4 years ago. He does love his grapes. As I found out 2 years ago when I met him. |

I loved him as V1. I thought the spots he and Shannon Moore did during the Royal Rumble (2005..ish) were nothing short of brilliant.
The gimmick had a long shelf life, and was easily modifiable.
Since then he's just bored me. Awkward talker, mostly due to his Carolina accent, a solid wrestler but just seemed to put all of his charisma in that Version 1 basket and when that didn't work he just ran on fumes. I didn't see a lot of his ROH run, but I feel like I should give it a look if it's as good as people say.
With him I'm very apathetic.
But I'll still tease the hell out of him even though he's probably in better shape than me.
Then the whole suicide thing...it's like he doesn't grasp the common sense of how to use real life moments. Suicides...hoping people die in car crashes....he never learns.

In my head canon Los Fabulosos tag teamed Miss Hancock. You can't be in the same room as Sliver King and El Dandy & not feel that animal magnetism. the "Chubby Cowboy" version of Silver King, or the "ROIDED UP TO THE GODDAMN GILLS" version of Silver King? |

There was a time, a LONG time, where Matt was my absolute favorite wrestler on the planet and I would have defended him from anyone's assholery towards him.
He pretty much blew it all to hell with the Cardboard Cutout Lita stuff, the "Grape-eating-suicidal-moron" stuff, and hooking up with Reby Sky.
He might be in a better place now, emotionally, but I'll never know, because he caused me to give up on him.
I will say though that sometime around 2006-2007 he was one of most consistent workers in WWE, usually having the best match of any given Smackdown. His stuff with MVP was quality too (except for the "pizza eating contest").

It was the 2003 Royal Rumble that he did all of that with Shannon Moore but yes I did enjoy his stuff in the early 2000s but as time went on I just found him to be meh and then when he went to TNA and became Fat Lardy aka Cow Blood it was a more of a sigh of "just give it up" kind of reaction I had to him. Then when he did the whole suicide thing....I lost all respect for him. Yes he was a good talent in the beginning and I can say that as a person who really loved both Hardy Boyz but just as time went on I was geared more towards Jeff. |
