It also helps that Roderick Strong actively campaigned for the match against Lethal, it's all quite straight forward, Roddy felt he's been cheated, wanted a title shot that Nigel couldn't swing, they reached a compromise. Whereas Kyle O'Reilly clearly is more invested in getting back at Adam Cole than getting his title rematch which you could easily believe Kyle could get if he wanted it.

That Moose/Donovan Dijak match was psychotic, I don't think either guy really should feel compelled to pull out the stops like that too often, Dijak looked like he was really overworking himself there.

ROH really needs to figure out how to increase the volume on their commentary, I can't hear a word they're saying most of the time. I don't really care for Mandy Leon in the Inside ROH segments either, her script reading is way too obvious.

For all its faults early on watching Adam Cole play cat 'n' mouse with reDRagon is fun.

What makes it even better is the Adam Page factor. Last year, Page was in Colby's position as The Decade's young boy. Whitmer did his fantastic job at being just super odious as a "mentor," and Page being naturally great as emoting sympathy made fans red hot waiting for him to rebel...

...only for Page to come into his own and embrace Whitmer during The Decade's split, becoming a full-fledged member and thinking Whitmer's merciless abuse was good for him, and he's in-turn doing the same thing now to Colby. This made The Decade's heat go from red hot to white hot as the underdog we wanted to finally overcome his situation turned his back on US, which compounds the Colby situation, making him even more sympathetic.

All credit goes to Delirious for this as doing that with Page was a HUGE gamble and could have made fans feel screwed and crapped on the angle, but they're going with it and making The Decade easily the most hated outfit in ROH. The last two ROH tapings I've gone to, they've cut out easily 90 seconds of the crowd booing before Whitmer could even speak on the mic. Everyone's really done incredible work with this almost-two-year-old angle.

I mean no disrespect to anything else Whitmer's done as I enjoy his body of work, but THIS character is so perfect and truly rare form for any wrestler to enter.

I'm not a ROH watcher but that sounds like a fantastic storyline.

That's why I said he was pushed as such. But for me it never really took. As hard as they tried to make it so he just never felt like the #1 guy. To me he was overshadowed for large parts of his run on top.

Could a thirst for gold be spreading the ROH World Champion too thin?

Truth Martini is a man of opportunity and knows that reDRagon, fresh off a tour with New Japan Pro Wrestling, will have an opportunity to dethrone the ROH World Tag Team champions, The Kingdom, in Milwaukee to become four-time ROH World Tag Team champions. Knowing that reDRagon are clicking on all-cylinders, Martini has become a gold prospector of sorts and has signed his team of Donovan Dijak and ROH World Champion Jay Lethal to a tag team encounter with reDRagon in what could be an ROH World Tag Team Championship match in Hopkins!

Martini has become a gambler, playing his hand from position of strength with every reason to believe he is on top of the world. Martini’s charges, Dijak, the 2015 Top Prospect, and Lethal, the reigning ROH World Champion and the longest-reigning ROH World Television champion, ever, have Martini filled with confidence. But will hubris be the House of Truth’s downfall?

Both Bobby Fish and Kyle O’Reilly came within milliseconds of taking singles gold from the waist of Lethal at All Star Extravaganza VII. In fact, had it not been for outside interference from Adam Cole, it is very likely O’Reilly would be the ROH World Champion. Fish and O’Reilly will return to the states with both men fixated on recapturing ROH Tag Team gold and resuming their hunt for singles’ championships. Could Truth’s overconfidence be putting Lethal in danger prior to his World Championship encounter at Final Battle against A.J. Styles?

In Hopkins, Martini will have to rely heavily on the 6’8” Dijak. Martini is betting on the development of the agile, hulking brute as an able-bodied tag team partner to the “Greatest First Generation Wrestler” that can not only protect Lethal but also serve as, potentially, one-half of the ROH World Tag Team champions. With Dijak proving himself as a breakout star in encounters with Moose and Michael Elgin, he looks to prove Martini doubters wrong in Hopkins.

But the question remains: what if Martini’s speculation doesn’t pan out? What if the Kingdom find a way to retain in Milwaukee and he instead subjects the HoT to a suddenly fire-breathing reDRagon with memories of their losses to Lethal in San Antonio burnt in their minds? You’ll have to be in Hopkins to find out!

On the classic television game show Let’s Make a Deal, it was not uncommon for contestants to walk away with a consolation prize that was higher in value than the initial prize offered. ACH and Matt Sydal have known the grand prize of their Best of Five series, a spot in the 2015 Survival of the Fittest Final, has the potential to be career-defining. But suddenly, the consolation prize has the same potential. In Hopkins, MN, either ACH or Sydal will compete in the SOTF Final. The runner-up will go one-on-on with the Phenomenal A.J. Styles in a huge one-on-one encounter!

And the opportunity may be ripe for either star to pick up a win that would make news across the globe. Styles is a star known around the world for taking on all challengers. Heading into Final Battle, the former IWGP Heavyweight Champion is nursing a back injury that kept him out of action during Glory By Honor weekend. He will put his back to the test, looking to take on any and all challengers in preparation for his huge ROH World Championship match with Jay Lethal.

The casual observer will immediately look at both hypothetical match-ups and realize that Styles will be in for a fight either way the cookie crumbles. Matt Sydal is no stranger to combat with Styles, having first met the “Phenomenal One” in an ROH ring in 2006 in Philadelphia at Hell Freezes Over. Sydal’s hard-hitting, sudden-impact kicks could aggravate an already-sensitive back that will be put to the test a week before in New Japan competition and may stiffen up in the transpacific flight home.

Meanwhile, ACH and Styles locked up for the first time in an ROH ring at The 13th Anniversary Show in Las Vegas this past March. The Styles Clash ultimately finished off ACH, but since then ACH has been one of the hottest competitors in the world, most-recently winning a huge Four Corners Survival bout in Lockport, NY against Moose, Michael Elgin, and Adam Cole and taking two matches thus far against Sydal. ACH has gained needed experience since their last encounter that makes the high-flyer from Texas even more dangerous and a true threat to cover Styles for the 1-2-3 in the center of the ring.

For both Sydal and ACH, a bout against Styles is quite a parting gift for the loser of their historic Best of Five series. A win against the ROH World Title’s number one contender Styles would immediately catapult either man further into ROH title contention.

For Sydal, a win against Styles would conclude his metamorphosis as one of the world’s best high flyers completes the cycle of being #REBORN. For ACH, a win against Styles could be the resume-defining victory needed to finally earn a shot against ROH TV champ Roderick Strong or ROH World Champion Jay Lethal.

And for Styles? The consummate professional will be looking to pick up the victory but also will be looking to gauge the health of his back before he meets Lethal in Philadelphia for the ROH World Title in December. If Styles is too cautious, it could cost him the winner’s end of the purse. If Styles is overzealous, it could cost him the World Championship.

FORMER ROH WORLD CHAMP JERRY LYNN TO APPEAR IN NASHVILLE

ROH LEGEND JERRY LYNN WILL BE IN NASHVILLE!

Former ROH World Champion Jerry Lynn has announced that he will be in Nashville on Friday, November 20th for Ring of Honor’s national television taping at the historic Tennessee State Fairgrounds! Lynn will take part in the pre-show autograph signing and will be addressing the crowd through a very special interview.

The name Jerry Lynn has been synonymous with Ring of Honor Wrestling since its inception in 2002. Lynn made his ROH debut against the “Phenomenal One” A.J. Styles in the first round of the inaugural Ring of Honor World Title tournament in June 2002. Lynn engaged in classic encounters, teaming with Samoa Joe to challenge the Briscoe Brothers for their ROH World Tag Team titles in January 2004, defeating Kenny King in Philadelphia at Glory By Honor VII, and emerging victorious over Delirious on the very first episode of Ring of Honor television to air on cable!

Lynn tallied the biggest win of his career on April 3, 2009 when he shocked the world at Supercard of Honor IV in Houston and ended the nearly-record setting ROH World Title reign of Nigel McGuinness. Lynn would be tormented by Austin Aries, Rhett Titus, and King before surrendering the ROH Championship in a three-way match to Aries that also featured Tyler Black.

A grizzled veteran already adorned with scars from wars with the Lightning Kid, Sabu, and Rob Van Dam, Lynn would find continued success in ROH before succumbing to injury. Once bitter rivals, Lynn pleaded with now-Matchmaker McGuiness for one last match at Final Battle 2012. Lynn would wrap up his ROH career with a loss to Mike Bennett.

Lynn would retire in 2013 after 25 years in professional wrestling. Lynn was a guest at Ring of Honor’s pay per view Best in the World 2014 and it is always great to have the legend around! This time, ROH fans will have the opportunity to have their photo taken with and get an autograph from this former ROH champion! some notes from this week's Wrestling Observer:

The Young Bucks deal was a one-year contract, which means that in about six to nine months we'll have all the rumors all over again about them going to WWE. Just for a clarification, the deal with ROH is exclusive for North America with the exception of PWG, so that means U.S., Canada and Mexico. New Japan strongly encouraged them to sign the deal because they knew how hard they were working on the indies and didn't want them to get hurt by working so many dates. Plus, since they work with ROH, both sides will be able to coordinate the dates. They are supposed to also do a ten week minimum with New Japan on a separate deal . Essentially, between the two, they are guaranteed more money than they've ever earned before and will be working considerably less dates. The PWG aspect of the deal was something they insisted on, and they also get to keep their merchandising rights and Pro Wrestling Tees business. Nobody else under ROH contract, even those with non-exclusive deals, are allowed to be affiliated with Pro Wrestling Tees. The similar exclusive to North America deals that ROH has signed with guys (Jay Lethal, Bobby Fish, Kyle O'Reilly, Adam Cole, Mark & Jay Briscoe and most recently ACH) do not allow them to work PWG or anywhere else. The deal Roderick Strong signed does allow him to work PWG, where he is the current champion. The funny part about that is the exclusive contracts started because ROH didn't want guys working PWG, because they didn't want their champions losing on somebody else's cards (unless it's worked out with New Japan) and more not getting hurt on somebody else's cards because of Cole getting hurt working in PWG in the first place. Those on the indie scene have remarked that this is a major landmark deal, because, among other things, it shows that Sinclair was willing to spend more money than ever before for talent. It'll be interesting to see the locker room reaction, as others under contract like the Briscoes mayb be looking for raises when their deals are up based on the new precedent set. Part of it may also be that ROH doesn't want to lay dead knowing that WWE is both coming after their current talent, and the word on the streets for upcoming talent is to go to Evolve and not ROH because it's the road to NXT. It's also a significant deal on the indie scene. While no major indie group except PWG relied on The Young Bucks, they were a strong special attraction that was more affordable to smaller groups than the bigger names out there, would boost attendance for most companies they worked for, and also have very good to blow away matches every night. There was no other act like that with that value at their price range, plus they worked a ton of dates so were more available than most on the indie scene.

Not that there was much in the way of business that this relates to, but ROH is no longer allowing any contracted talent, whether they have exclusive or non-exclusive deals, to work for AAA. Roderick Strong and Moose were scheduled for some shows this month and I'm not clear if they'll be able to work those dates, but we should know in a few days since Strong is booked next week, or this regards only taking any new dates. Strong has an exclusive deal, while Moose doesn't, so in his case it is removing a place he can get work unless they open up CMLL and can send talent there. It's largely due to ROH, New Japan and CMLL trying to work out a three-way relationship. While New Japan didn't force the issue, they did make it clear they would prefer ROH doesn't work with AAA, and ROH is attempting to open up business with CMLL. It's harder for American promotions to work with CMLL, because Konnan at least is familiar with the U.S. talent and the U.S. landscape, while CMLL really isn't. After the Jushin Liger fiasco in August, ROH and New Japan have actually made a stronger bond. One Japanese source said they weren't forcing the issue, but if it came to A.J. Styles holding a title (and Styles is more a New Japan guy than an ROH guy anyway) that they wouldn't want him working for AAA. Another aspect is that if there is another World Cup, ROH wouldn't be able to send talent, or they couldn't bring in ROH talent for TripleMania. Most likely if they were going to bring in outside talent for anything but a World Cup, they'd go with the Americans in Lucha Underground.

Michael Elgin's contract expired this past week. Because of the New Japan buzz and because NXT needs more guys who can get the niche brand over, WWE has shown interest in him. He's scheduled to team with Hiroshi Tanahashi in the upcoming New Japan tag team tournament, which tells you what New Japan thinks of him. Elgin's role, besides having good matches every night, is that if a job is needed, he'll be the guy getting pinned because it makes no sense to beat Tanahashi when he's the challenger in the world title match at the Tokyo Dome.

I get that they are trying to find women for the ones currently on the roster to wrestle and give them something to other than valet but I'm noticing a trend among those brought in. Outside of ODB and Sumie Sakai, all these women been on WWE programming at different points the last couple of years and are considered hot. Are they going to make them officially part of ROH or just make them interchangeable? Are their plans for a legit division and eventual title?
