Its a show built on wrestling - which is why wrestling fans generally seem to take to it. I don't think the hacky, honestly tacky methods of the MNW really apply here because that time wasn't exactly known for its wrestling. NXT makes wrestling the focus of the show which, as sad as it is to say, is actually a huge departure from WWE's usual stuff. They talk about how they bring in the BEST wrestlers from around the world or how their wrestlers crossed over from other sports to train at the best wrestling school in the world. They still have fun characters and what not, but in the background there's always the emphasis on how people come to NXT because they're the best WRESTLERS and want a new challenge or they came from another industry and want to be the best wrestler. There's definitely an emphasis on skill though. Meanwhile on RAW they're still doing soap opera stuff about who is controlling the company and how dastardly they are or how corrupt someone is or who is sleeping with who or whatever dumb shit they're doing with Del Rio & Zeb. This, and Chad Gable.

As much as I pull for the homegrown guys and gals, it's kind of exciting seeing the rumor mill about people that might be joining. Part of the reason I started watching was hearing guys like El Generico's cousin, PAC, and Kevin Steen were going to be viewable more than once a month on a PWG DVD.

I like it because...it's a good wrestling show.
Really, that's my main issue with Raw (not in the last month or so but for most of the year). It's just a poorly thought out professional wrestling show a lot of the time. It's a parody of pro wrestling.

It's just a poorly thought out professional wrestling show a lot of the time. It's a parody of pro wrestling. It feels like SNL or something. It's a bad attempt at doing something bigger than what it actually is. They think they're this action/drama/comedy/sociopolitical entertainment extravaganza, but that's all build on the back of wrestling. And wrestling doesn't just mean serious guys in trunks having long serious matches because they have seriously good long serious matches, it's a simple morality play that builds to satisfying outcomes after a likeable wrestler fights through trials and tribulations and eventually wins the big wrestling match. Sami Zayn's whole NXT career, basically. That's still the core of what they do, even on the main roster, but it gets buried underneath all the bullshit they try to heap on top of it, to make it bigger and better and have more pizzazz than lowly wrestling. Screws up the details that are the foundation of the whole thing.

I think it's because it has given so many different people a chance to shine, and even if someone is forgotten or gets lost in the shuffle, they come back down the road and are put into a good spot again.
And down in NXT they do a good job of not doing the same match every show.

I think it's because Triple H built that shit from the ground up all on his own out of his own pocket, with no help from Vince or his money! Equal parts this... ...and what a lot of people have said in the past 'round these parts, NXT is WWE-main roster without the unhealthy parts. It's lean programming, the backstage segments always have a point, there are no incredulously invasive advertising/ulterior motives (Linda for Senate!!), and there literally is no midcard at all, only one major women's/men's belt and one tag team championship (aka everyone is technically a main eventer on NXT, a point to keep in mind when recalling the Jinder Mahal/Seth Rollins match that crowned the first NXT Champ).

I get decent wrestling, not stupidly-convoluted and dumb storylines, and they know how to use vets like Rhyno and Joe.
I just read Raw recaps at this point, and get my weekly fix via the Network.

I like NXT because it's WWE style wrestling but presented in a less insulting way.
It doesn't seem as micromanaged and overproduced, It's back to basics.
I also prefer the way they tell stories and get characters over, the video packages focus more on the characters and their backstories where as the main roster video packages are just compilations of things that happened in the ring on Raw that you have seen repeated over and over again for the last 4 weeks.
I don't think NXT is as different from the main roster product as it seems, but those small changes are enough to make it seem light years ahead.

I figured out why everyone loves NXT just by watching it.
Seriously, it's a good wrestling show.

There's nothing all that unique about NXT. It's a competently booked wrestling show, and that's enough.
Stories and feuds make sense. The wrestlers feel like real people who have real motivations. It's easy to suspend your disbelief while you watch. Also it's only an hour long which is the perfect length for it.

What are you talking about? WWE is unpredictable too!
In almost every case where common sense should play out, WWE instead does something completely ludicrous and offensive!

I figured out why everyone loves NXT just by watching it. Seriously, it's a good wrestling show. That's what I did. Everyone here was saying how good it was, so I watched Arrival live on the Network in 2014 and got hooked. Fun characters, simple storylines, good wrestling. That's all I need.
