 "Groar I'm so evil I'm shredding your mask off-oops I actually did it let me help you put it back on"I thought the announcers could have covered for him saying that Del Rio didn't want to risk a disqualification and not advance, but that would be stretching it because WWE has never really had a rule that you couldn't take off someone's mask. I guess they could say Del Rio is used to competing in matches where it is illegal to take the mask off of someone, but that would mean that WWE acknowledges outside wrestling. |

I just watched the match moments ago and am not sure why people make it out to be so horrible.
Perhaps not watching the rest of the show has something to do with it, but I feel they told a great story despite given so little time. I will admit that Alberto did kind of ruin the pace of the match and botched a long. It would be far better if Kalisto really played up the underdog gimmick by giving Alberto a run for his money.
It wasn't spectacular, but I wasn't appalled by the match.
Do I think Alberto Del Rio is worth the investment? Hell no! He is this generation's Lex Luger; a guy who is pushed way more than his worth.

They undermined their own story.
Kalisto beats Ryback. They ask "Can this Cinderella story continue???"
Alberto beats Kalisto. So I guess not. It makes the Ryback win look like a fluke.
They could have easily had Swagger cost Alberto the match by count-out and let Kalisto advance. He could then give Roman a great match before eventually losing. They could then have done the handshake/respect thing, making both guys look good.

They undermined their own story. Kalisto beats Ryback. They ask "Can this Cinderella story continue???" Alberto beats Kalisto. So I guess not. It makes the Ryback win look like a fluke. They could have easily had Swagger cost Alberto the match by count-out and let Kalisto advance. He could then give Roman a great match before eventually losing. They could then have done the handshake/respect thing, making both guys look good. If they did that though they'd be setting up Roman to have 3 matches in a row with the crowd cheering his opponent over him. With ADR they can at least put a dent in that for one match. |

Del Rio is trying to twist the mask so that the back of the mask covers Kalisto's eyes, momentarily impairing his vision. *Assuming it is the traditional lucha mask and not one of Rey Mysterio's half-masks where the back is totally exposed* |

I don't think the crowd would cheer for Kalisto over Roman. Roman's generally pretty over and, with the way he's been booked, typically nobody cares about Kalisto. |
