Somehow, NFL reffing has NOT improved overall since the Scab Refs of September 2012.

HOW THE f*** DID THAT NOT STOP THE CLOCK Was the right call to keep the clock running. He retreated from his furthest point with no defender contact to go out of bounds. By rule clock keeps running. Former NFL officals all have already posted on Twitter that the clock should have stopped. I doubt Buffalo scores there. The main issue was how poor the refs were ALL game. The Buffalo fumble was in the final minute was an incomplete pass, a ref missed a Buffalo catch in the final minute, despite being a foot away (call was reversed). Those 3 errors happened in the final minute. There had to be about 10 other big mistakes during the game.

I think the Patriots going 16-0 is a certainty. I'm more interested if Carolina can do the same.

Patriots haven't looked too good since Edelman got hurt. If they play against a team that has the ability to score points, they will probably lose.

Well, we're heading for a month of awful MNF games. This was as good as it'll get until DEN-CIN.
Can we put the Bills in place of the Ravens or Browns next week?

Dean Blandino admits the refs don't know the rules but won't admit to there being a problem. I don't know what to say.

Yeah, the refs are bad now. We may need to get the replacement refs in here if these refs continue to act like fools out there.

Something needs to be done this offseason regarding the ref situation. I am not saying they all need to be fired and set adrift, but after the replacement debacle, it seems the regulars have become a bit too complacent.

Bill Belichick owns Rex Ryan...... in the regular season. When it counted in the playoffs, not so much.

Boy I cannot wait to see how the dipshits blow the Super Bowl and the NFL try and wash it away. They're going to miss a receiver being pulled down while the pass is in the air at the end of the game. This is after the refs call a face mask when someone gets tackled at the waste in the 3rd, and the replay booth tries to review a play for 1 quarter before.

And don't mistake me for hating on the Pats, they got screwed too but that shit at the end was indefensible. The officiating has been shit all year and in a major MNF game, they were at their worst. It ridiculous that the officiating has to be thought of, let alone discussed with all sides but the NFL saying there are problems. They just need to fire all the refs. They've been terrible in the pros and college. Bring in new ones. Train them. Give them a little time to learn, make mistakes. But if they can't learn from mistakes, out the door. Another problem to me is the refs and their group feel they can do no wrong. Like the umpires in baseball. They need to be knocked down a peg or two. Yes, your word is law during the game. However, admit your mistakes afterwords. It will bring at least a little respect.

I've long held the belief that the Patriots-Ravens game from 2012, the final weekend of the replacement referee debacle - was the worst officiated pro football game I've ever seen. Sure, the "Fail Mary" game the following night included the worst single call and was the impetus for the end of the referee lockout, but the game the night before was an insult to football fans in New England, Baltimore, and around the country.
I say that because last night's game may be the new standard bearer. It's not even that I was frustrated about some questionable calls and no-calls that negatively impacted the Patriots, although there were plenty, it was just such an incompetently officiated game on the whole that it significantly affected my overall enjoyment of the evening. Did we really need a five-minute review of a Brandon LaFell catch in the second quarter when the ball clearly never touched the ground from any angle? Or what about holding up the game for almost three minutes to decide that Jerry Hughes was offside by TWENTY YARDS on James White's touchdown run? And it's not even worth wasting time or anger on the inadvertent whistle that in all likelihood took a Patriots touchdown off the board. We all know it was a hideous call and at least the referees owned up to it and admitted their error after the game.
When I saw that Gene Steratore was going to be the official for Monday night's game, I was happy, because he is known as a ref who traditionally puts the flag away and lets the players play. Last night was the opposite. The zebras were practically tripping over themselves to impact the action and drag the game out into a nearly four-hour affair.
As nice as it is that the Patriots are 10-0 and can clinch the AFC East next Sunday, there are chinks in the armor. Tom Brady played much of the fourth quarter with only two healthy wide receivers: Brandon LaFell and Chris Harper, who was promoted from the practice squad last week. If Danny Amendola is hurt for any extended period of time, the Patriots need to dip into free agency simply to have enough healthy bodies for Brady to throw to. The current offense, exclusively due to attrition, might be the worst set of skill position players Brady's ever played with. Sure, Rob Gronkowski is an animal and the best tight end in the game, but he's only one man. LaFell and especially the woefully underwhelming Scott Chandler need to step up in the coming weeks if there's any hope of the Patriots going into the Mile High city and beating the Broncos on Sunday night.
At this point, I'm throwing the notion of an undefeated regular season out the window. It's all about staying healthy, winning the division, clinching a bye, and wrapping up home-field advantage. After that, I'd treat the rest of the season like a preseason game. Get your starters some snaps in the first quarter or first half, then turn the game over to Jimmy Garoppolo and the bench players. I would much rather see a healthy 14-2 team entering the postseason than a banged-up 16-0 team. It's all about winning Super Bowl 50 and it's going to be hard to do that if the Patriots have only two healthy receivers on the roster.
