He's probably shot himself in the foot now as a result, because now WWE has a reason NOT to push him if he's just leaving in two years.
I remember when Ted DiBiase Jr. said he was probably going to go for an acting career after wrestling for a certain amount of time, and he was severely depushed afterwards. Granted it was Ted Jr. but considering how high WWE was on him at one point it was quite surprising to see him go down the pecking order so fast.

Dolph Ziggler's a much better name than Nick Nemeth. A lot more unique for one, and also it's very easily chantable and it does a lot to help put over Dolph's general thing over the years of being a flashy weirdo smartass. I disagree. It's an obvious (and dated) reference to a Marky Mark movie that's mostly remembered now only because of the absurdly long fake **** (Hi, Vince!) and having the second best use of a Stan Bush song in movie made since 1986. It's an overly gimmicky name that works against the talents of the guy stuck with it. There haven't been a whole lot of "cute" names to hold the WWE Championship for any great length of time. The Miz is the only one that immediately comes to mind, and even that's not on the level of "Hi! I'm Dolph Ziggler!" As for chanting, "Let's Go Ne-meth" or even "Ni-cky Ne-meth" would have been just as catchy as anything for "Ziggler". Completely agree. I can't take anybody with that name seriously. Non-wrestling fans that have watched with me have seen that name and thought it was ridiculous even for pro wrestling standards. It's a silly name. I see it and think of either a cartoon character or Boogie Nights. Every single time. Just really think about that name. Dolph...Ziggler. I dunno. Him being invited on talk shows or non wrestling media and hearing "My guest is professional wrestler Dolph Ziggler" just sounds funny. And of course guys have been successful with silly names but to be at a top level, it just doesn't work in my opinion. Nick Nemeth has a good ring to it and rolls off the tongue quite nicely. Always thought that should've been his ring name.

That's like 7 more wins in Ziggler years.

He's honestly had the career he should have so far; and it's been a really decent one. If he hangs it up, he'll have been a solid midcard dude. a)That's the spot the things he can do warrants and b)there's nothing at all wrong with that spot.

Probably because when he was hotter than 500 supernovas last year, they gave his push to ROMAN GODDAMN REIGNS

Ziggler's also a future Hall of Famer with his career too so yeah, I mean for all those years ago and even today saying he should be pushed, looking at his resume he's done a lot.
- World Heavyweight Championship (2 times) - WWE Intercontinental Championship (4 times) - WWE United States Championship (1 time) - World Tag Team Championship (1 time) - Money in the Bank (2012 – World Heavyweight Championship contract) - Slammy Awards (2 times) - Slammy Award: Best Twitter Handle or Social Champion (2014) – @heelziggler - Slammy Award: Match of the Year (2014) – Team Cena vs. Team Authority at Survivor Series - The one who defeated the Authority (hell they didn't even show Sting in the promo package)

Punk was saying the same shit since 2011 and saying it often and that didn't stop his push. Batista was talking about retirement and acting and MMA since 2007 and that never stopped his pushes

He's been around on TV for almost a full decade. He's had a respectable career and calling it a day before he turns his brains to mush with his style isn't a bad thing.
I don't feel he'll be missed with guys like Owens, Zayn, Neville, Balor, etc., around.

Actually the twitter handle comment and the one under for match of the year were the 2 Slammys he received not it's own separate entity. Usually those who get Slammys are eventually Hall of Fame members.

Dolph Ziggler says a lot of "edgy" things on social media.
Then we make threads about them and nothing comes of the things he says.

Just once before he retires, I want to see Ziggler vs Adam Cole so so bad. Even if it's a one time deal with ROH and his retirement match. Hell, even if Cole is in WWE.

Should have had a Shawn Michaels career, ended up with a Mr.Perfect career (with a B plus world title win).

A year ago this time, I thought they were going with him. Being the sole survivor and visions of a Mania match with Brock (which I still think would be outstanding) danced in my head.
But be it injury or lack of faith, WWE has just never gotten behind the guy and I love him to death. Shame he's heading out without ever having gotten the push he deserved.

I could pull up all the other edgy tweets Ziggler's made and point out that they've all been BS, but that would be paying more attention to his clickbait tweets than they deserve.

In a 7 year main roster run, Dolph has never even gotten a good Mania match, with a program behind it and time to work. Cluster f IC title match and tagging with Big E against Team Hell No are the best he's gotten. And this is a guy who has had one of the better spots for a while. His resume looks lovely, but if you watch the shows, you know the real story. Being a fan of his the last 5 years or so has been a struggle, and I bet it's been frustrating for him as well.

It would be seriously weird if Dolph wrestled full-time for more than a decade without ever getting a one-on-one match at WrestleMania. I mean, Cody Rhodes and Jack Swagger can at least say they've done that.

When did Del Rio say his "Retire in X Years" because that X date seems to have either passed/quickly coming up.
