The Master of Pain being tarred and feathered after a loss in the NWA. Anyone know the details behind this?

The Master of Pain being tarred and feathered after a loss in the NWA. Anyone know the details behind this? Maybe that's how Undertaker "died".

That is a great image. Lots of things you wouldn't see too much longer: Kirchner would soon be a basic jobber with a gimmick, Honkytonk would turn heel and Hogan to the best of my knowledge rarely wore any color but yellow after 1987. I wonder if the match was against Paul Orndorff. I didn't even know Honky had been face!

It was very brief. He came in as a good guy, was cited as a friend of Hulk Hogan (I think Hulk may have even introduced him to the crowd) but fans soon turned on him. I guess as a good guy the gimmick is too silly and more suited to be a bad guy. They even had a "vote" whether fans wanted Honky to stay a good guy or turn bad. It probably did Honky and WWF a world of good. As a good guy he'd probably have lasted as long as Corporal Kirchner and probably wouldn't be too famous on the indy scene but as a bad guy, the sky was the limit for a while.

Executive producer Stephen J. Cannell? "Next week, Ric and Bobby come to the aid of a family being forced out of their roadside diner by Mafia goons, who want the land for a lucrative mall development. Only on Flair for the Gold.."
