The Panthers have rescinded Josh Norman's franchise tag, making him a free agent immediately.

Eagles trade for #2 pick: Eagles get #2 overall Browns get #8 overall 3rd round #77 overall 4th round #100 2017 1st round pick 2018 2nd round pick ___ So how do the Eagles even know which QB the Rams will take? Or I guess they don't care which one they get. Look, I get that it's 4/20 and today's the day to celebrate with some substances, but the Eagles apparently decided to acknowledge the date by smoking angel dust or something, because that's the only logical explanation behind this trade. The Browns now have three picks in the top-100 of this year's draft plus a first-round pick next year that very well could be in the top-five because, and this point has been overlooked a lot nationally, the Eagles are going to be atrocious next season. Philadelphia, meanwhile, committed $26 million to Sam Bradford in March and now one month later they've decided to completely mortgage their future for whichever quarterback the Rams pass on.

Wow.....
He supposedly likes the idea of playing CA so 9ers are a possibility. Another possibility could be Jaguars. Ton of cap space, he grew up and played College ball in SC, which isn't far away. Guessing he goes to 49ers but the Jaguars and possibly Titans are maybes, at least in my opinion.

Unless the Panthers and Josh Norman have already agreed to a multi-year contract, I've got to imagine we're a few hours away from finding out that Norman is being investigated for some kind of crime because I can't wrap my head around why else the Panthers would let their best defensive back walk away into free agency when they already had him locked up through the 2016 season.

Apparently, the Panthers' reason for letting Norman walk is they don't wanna put up with a possible headache all season. That's really f***ing stupid.

Josh Norman being a free agent.....that is terrifying since our secondary isn't that great without him.

Unlike Broncos fans, I'm not going to make any excuses for the huge hole we have now. This was really a dumb move as Norman is really a corner we could have used. Even if we didn't have a long term deal coming, we could have had Norman for just this year and that would be fine.
This is just like when we let Steve Smith go and while many say that may have been for the betterment of the team, I am still furious we did it.
I trust he'll get the money he wants, hopefully...we won't have miss the playoffs because of it.

Between the Philly/Cleveland trade and Carolina letting Norman walk, what a baffling day of decision making.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports Sam Bradford was angered by the Eagles' trade up to draft a quarterback at No. 2 overall.
Citing "team and league sources," WFNZ Charlotte's Bill Voth reports the Panthers rescinded CB Josh Norman's franchise tag because a long-term deal "wasn't getting done," they anticipated him becoming a distraction during a forthcoming holdout, and Carolina wants to spend big to retain other players.

Why not trade him then? It's not like franchise tags come with guaranteed money, so trading him for any pick would have been more profitable for them than simply releasing him. That seems to be the back-up plan for the Jets with Wilkerson.

To think that not to long ago I thought Draft Day was absurdly unrealistic.

This would be a typical Daniel Snyder Redskins move. Snyder isn't running the show. McCloughan is, and he signed Nate Clements to a massive deal years back so this isn't his first rodeo. He doesn't like signing free agents and prefers to build through the draft, but if a guy like Norman is available, why not give it a shot?

But the Redskins did this back in the day when Snyder ran the team as well.
