I'd rather it had been turn based than just a button masher action game, as I feel that takes away from the strategy element of RPGs, but this game looks amazing and I will get it and likely love it

This is kind of what I feared but not as bad as I feared it to be. Still looks like it can be an awesome game but not having it be the classic turn-base RPG style I think is going to leave a ton of fans sour. That and it looks like we're getting edgelord Advent Children Cloud again. fun. Wha? He didn't act anything like Advent Children Cloud, that was basically the same Cloud we saw at the beginning of the original game. Anyway, I wouldn't have minded a turn-based remake, but real-time action RPGs are where the American money is now so I can live with it.

Gameplay looks great. Yeah, I can get why some people still wanted the turn-based style, but I don't know how well that would work with these graphics. The Kingdom Hearts way is best here I think. And regardless of how some feel about Advant Children, they at least had the right cast so I'm glad to hear them stick with Beau Billingsly for Barrett.

I hate this, because it pretty much tells me we're not getting a world map, and that the game is likely to be more mission-based than anything else. I wouldn't be surprised if it also meant I'd be shelling out roughly twice what I would have just paid for one game.
I'd rather wait five years for a full game than get it piecemeal over the next three.

I don't really trust IGN, I'll be glad when a more reputable source like Tech Raptor or Niche Gamer reports on this.
Hoping its not mission based, but as long as there's still a full game release after the final part is done I can live with this. If its like three parts with each one being a different CD from the original that wouldn't be too bad.

Well, I don't care for IGN, so I didn't know that. Should have been the link in the first place.

There's too many different ways this could mean, so its very hard for me to be cynical.

Well Life is Strange worked out for them and we'll see how Hitman works as a episodic game but the fact that it's more of an action RPG doesn't really fill me with confidence to begin with and going episodic has me a bit more worried.

Didn't realize we had an off-topic area on this forum. With that said, I have to ask.
How do you think the leveling will go? If this game is going to be multi-part series (which makes sense to me) does that mean we'll level back down to level 1 in the second version? How does this work?

A universal save file that can be carried over multiple games or chapters isn't that far fetched, it's a practice that's been around since the early days of PC RPG's. In fact Square-Enix has already done this sort of thing before with their Downloadable Final Fantasy 2 follow up: The After Years. (Well that was before they released the full game as a physical copy as part of their Final Fantasy 2 compilation on the PSP.)

Episodic is bullshit. I like to play games in one sitting. Not play for 3 hours then havw to wait 6 months for part 2.
Seems like a blatant cash grab. Charge a fiver for each episode rather than 40 quid for the game.
