I love to think that Beavis and Butthead and King of the Hill all live in the same setting just in two far off different counties I always assumed that. Both set in Texas and by Mike Judge. I always thought Hank Hill and Mr. Anderson were like 2nd or 3rd cousins or something like that.

As far as pop-culture goes, watching Beavis & Butt-head is one of the best things I experienced in my lifetime. The comeback was great, but I echo the opinion that it would have been better if they looked at more YouTube videos rather than watching so much Reality TV krap on MTV. The few music videos they did watch weren't even rock videos, which sucks since I was turned onto a lot of rock bands like White Zombie by watching Beavis & Butt-head in the 90s.

Beavis does a really good impression of Lemmy from Motörhead.
Butthead not so much.

Please excuse Beavis and Butthead from wearing atletic sip otters as there was a national atletic sip otter shortage.

Always love them taking the piss out of Grim Reaper:
Nick Bowcott, the guitarist, tells a great story about meeting Mike Judge, who was afraid he'd punch him for slagging Grim Reaper so bad. Nick was fine with it, agreeing that those videos were complete crap.

Damn it, Panthera, you treat your stepmother with respect Are you going to cry Pantera?! I thought the reboot was great... I remember originally them saying they would do another season but then they didn't... Huh huh, you said "do another." And "DAMMIT ERNIE, STOP DANCING LIKE A BUNCH OF DUMBASSES! I'M TRYING TO MAKE A CAKE HEAHHHHHHHHHHH!" The post-fire incident episodes are when the show got really good, especially the video riffing. And I still prefer the first Christmas special of nothing but videos. They are still the "California Turds" to me to this day.

When I was younger (probably too young to be watching it), I used to spend the night at my grandparents. They'd let my brother and my cousins stay up to watch it (which would run for 2-3 hours late Saturday nights) and I'd try to stay in as long as possible before my grandma would catch me and send me to bed. I remember it being one of the only shows when I was younger that would make me laugh until I literally felt like I'd pee my pants. And the re-launch was surprisingly really good too. I never actually got why they canned it after one season, unless the intention was just to have one season. Always love them taking the piss out of Grim Reaper: Nick Bowcott, the guitarist, tells a great story about meeting Mike Judge, who was afraid he'd punch him for slagging Grim Reaper so bad. Nick was fine with it, agreeing that those videos were complete crap. You'd be amazed how many bands HATE doing the videos, but do it under the demands of the record companies or because they feel obligated to.

I remember when it first came back for that one season four years ago when they began riffing on MTV reality program in addition to the music videos and I remember thinking "culture got dumber, Beavis and Butt-Head stayed the same which makes them seem smarter!"
I want to see a Beavis and Butt-Head comment on a clip from Tosh.0. Just because it'd be one of the most meta things ever.

I can't count how many bands Beavis and Butthead introduced me to, From Frank Zappa - You is what you is to Carcass - Heartwork with some Army of Lovers (drain the tub) thrown in.
Oh, forgot Ween and The Dead Milkmen.

Yeah that's another thing. Mike Judge used the show to get bands that weren't going to get on MTV rotation air play through the show and he'd have his characters put over bands he liked that didn't fit into the genre's that MTV was going to play. I watched one recently where Beavis and Butt Head totally put over Reverend Horton Heat.

The earliest episodes were horrible. I imagine that's where a lot of the controversial parts of the show came from. It got better a couple seasons in and became really funny through the end. I love the one where they "strike oil" among other ones. Or where they think it would be funny to just scream at random people. When I was younger though I hated the music sections because they would break up episodes that were already short--would have preferred one part of the show being an episode then doing the videos after or something.
The reboot wasn't bad, though his inability to do the Beavis voice right anymore was distracting.

Last I heard, wasn't Mike Judge shopping the show around to other networks? I read somewhere he was trying to get the rights from MTV to do that yeah. Don't know if he ever did though. I'm guessing he didn't succeed. At least not yet. MTV used to have a wider demographic back in the day, so Beavis and Butthead look so out of place in modern mtv. The type of audience that watched his show back in the day are now more likely watching Adult Swim than mtv. so I hope he can get the rights and move it to a channel like that.
