I mean really?
I'm talking face to face someone saying a particular concept or idea offends them.
We seem to assume everything's so politically correct because someone probably got offended( let's not get into arguing points) I'm just asking if you have actually ran across anyone that was so butt hurt over something that it really mattered.
I really haven't that I can think of. I don't believe there's a war on saying "Merry Christmas" for example. It's just more or less someone assuming there is because of something they might have read or heard, but really hadn't experienced for real.
And there may be some things-any stories?
I mean nothing obvious like someone trolling another person just to set them off.

I have a friend who got upset when an old man stopped to ask her if she needed any directions since she was standing in the middle of a park looking at a map. "Presumptive mansplainer."
And yeah, know plenty of people who get offended by holiday practices throughout the calendar year.

Once my old roommate's girlfriend got, understandably, offended over a sexist joke I made. I apologized.

I don't see this happen in real life much thankfully. Though I imagine living in Tennessee might have something to do with that a bit.

Very rarely. I tend to always hear it from the people who are anti-PC, but they're usually the ones that cry the most when they get offended.

Countless times.
I work in retail in a city that is close enough all the rural communities come in to do their shopping, and isn't big enough to have any kind of separation of where different economic classes of people tend to shop.
Trashy and/or old people come in and make WAY off color comments that offend customers and employees all the time.
Personally, I've offended tons of people, mostly due to not holding my tongue on subjects. Telling someone something ludicrous they've said is wrong is probably the easiest way I've found to offend. I've even had lots of customers get offended by me telling them either the right information about a product or the proper name for something.
For instance, an old man was getting help with his photos. My coworker did all the interaction until the end. The two of us are at the counter chatting with the really pleasant man, then, as he's about to leave a teen girl walks by and he makes some disgusting comments. My coworker proceeds to rant about how such a nice old man could be so disgusting.
One of the most common things I've seen would be a Sikh with his dastar coming into a store and buying a cart or two of milk or pop to resell at his gas station. Redneck behind them in line is offended at buying store product to resell and utters racial slurs. People behind redneck proceed to go off about the redneck being racist and frequently also the Sikh buying all the stuff.
Other than that, I've seen tons of offense at gaming tables. I spent a large portion of my youth playing games at the local comic shop, and people would routinely take serious offense at legitimate comments not intended to hurt about their play or deck. Also tons of shouting matches at people being offended about a player using a cheesy strategy of some sort, even before the game is played out or after they beat said cheese.

I'll co-co-sign on this. Most of the times when I hear people getting offended IRL its that they're offended over the simplest things. The moment they tell a lame joke that doesn't land they rally about people are "too f***ing PC man, nothing's funny anymore." They act all offended and stuff - its hilarious and sad. Other than that, the whole PC/being offended thing is largely relegated to online and small things that are blown out of proportion by "news outlets" in order to get more viewers/clicks.

Last time I had a real problem was some girl wanted to play Cards Against Humanity with us (some friends of mine) and then got offended in one of the rounds. She said she was a fan of the game so I don't know what else she was expecting. It was also around that time she said "I hate people that use sarcasm and treat everything like a joke" and I told he "Well you're gonna love me then". One of my greater moments.

Co-co-co-signed. It seems like there's some people that are outraged and offended over people being outraged and offended. And believe me, that's not a paradox. It's the attitude of getting bent out of shape over the fact that people's standards evolve over time, and there are some jokes and ideas that gradually don't hold up anymore.

"I guess people are too PC" = "I made a shitty remark and I don't want to own it now."

Had numerous times where people get up and leave rather than say something on a card.

I took that since she was a fan of the game that she knew how bad CAH could get.

I think that the only times I've seen someone act offended in real life is when someone accuses them of something. Anything from thievery to forgetfulness to laziness.

"I guess people are too PC" = "I made a shitty remark and I don't want to own it now." Yes I've seen some of that. But I've also seen this sentiment: "People that question political correctness just want to be bigots" which tends to equal I can't handle my worldview being questioned or back up my arguments so I'll just dismiss you with a negative label and try to shut you up. As with a lot of things it's hardly a cut-and-dried issue.

On Facebook I had some moron accuse me of cultural appropriation for having photos of me wearing Buddhist ceremonial robes. Despite the fact it was my girlfriends dad who owned the temple who suggested I try them on and the locals loved it. They were all wanting photos of the white guy wearing robes. Nobody was upset or offended, except one uppity white student 10 thousand miles away who took it upon herself to decide for Indonesian Buddhists what's offensive.

And I will co sign this with a big batch of bullshit. Do not stand there and tell me that PC culture hasn't gotten out of hand. For the love of god look at places like Brown University. People are so scared to say anything that goes against the norm that students are literally having to go underground to have any sort of political discussion. Not just evil white men either but full blown liberals because apparently they aren't left enough. Or how last month at Yale during a discussion on free speech was derailed by some white guy who immediately started hurling insults are everyone in attendance. For those in the audience who also happened to be minorities he spat on them and called them race traitors. Or how about the two Professors at Yale who resigned this week because there email asking students to not cause trouble on Halloween towards costumes that could be called offensive, was some how insensitive. Also I remember the fact that the University of Missouri was met with protests because of a poop swastika and somebody who lied about the KKK being on campus. But being offended, never happens. Just because The Daily Show or Jon "Its 2015" Oliver don't have it on their program doesn't mean this stuff isn't happening. Also yes I am offended. I am offended that you three could take all this and boil it down to, "No, you."

I had to block my cousin on Facebook, Instagram, AND Pinterest because of how offended she was over the Christmas coffee cups from Starbucks...Anyone who would give her the time of day, she'd go into some ultra-bitch-like rant over how it's ruining the holidays and how we should stop supporting the "corporate giant," etcetera, etcetera.
Seriously, it's a damn cup of coffee....
