To make a long story short, I went in for two interviews last Thursday and Friday(with the same company) trying to get an entry-level sales engineer job for a new HVAC/Systems Integration company. I should note that they found me through one of the job boards I use(they never told me which one) and things moved quickly. I had a phone interview with them on Wednesday and the two interviews back-to-back on Thursday/Friday. After the interview on Thursday, one of the guys who interviewed me mentioned that they were rushing through the hiring process and would choose a candidate by next(next being this past) Monday or Tuesday. After the second interview, they reassured me they'd get back to me early this week.
Well, it's Friday and they haven't gotten back to me. I'm sure this means they chose somebody else, but my question to you FAN is if I should contact them seeking an answer. I hate being left in the dark like this and even if it's a no, I'd like to know. I also know that companies say stuff like this to potential candidates all the time, but like I said at the beginning, they found me and wanted to speak to me as opposed to the other way around at first. So again, I ask: should I seek an answer, continue to be patient, or simply move on and continue my job search?

I would call them and ask them what's going on. I would still keep looking for jobs in the meantime. It's always good to get yourself out there as much as possible.

Seeing as though it's 4 PM and it's Friday, I'm sure most people at the office have left by now. With that being said, I'll get in contact with them first thing in the morning on Monday.

Did you knock over the interviewer's desk to establish dominance? If not they went with someone else.

No.(I know you're joking, btw) In all seriousness though, one of the guys who was interviewing me kept trying to get a joke out of me. To the point where I legit think it might have hurt my chances since I was already crazy nervous and got put on the spot. I couldn't think of one in the moment.

Call them and be polite. Something like "Hey, it's (your name), I just wanted to check in and see if you guys had made your decision yet on the position."
If they say they went with someone else, thank them for the opportunity and say you hope they'll consider you in the future if any new positions open up.
I've hired people before, and this is a good approach.

I've thought about asking since yesterday but was unsure if it was considered bad form or not.

If you're falling of a cliff you might as well learn how to fly. If they chose someone else what harm is there in asking. Maybe you will fly.

I got a story, some IDIOT recruiter for a consulting firm decides to give me an interview scheduled on the day where there are G20 protests starting. I tell the guy, are you SURE this makes sense?
Still went in for the interview. Wasn't impressed with Mr. Culley.
And the biggest tragedy?
Not that I actually took his advice and went......
it's because he admitted he was a Cleveland Browns fan.
It's clear that guy had NO RIGHT frame of mind that day to tell me to go.
