Just the general feel of it.
Initially as bad as you could possibly imagine.
In the middle it actually got really entertaining in an NXTish way.
Came down a little again by the end.

Big Show's awesome title run. That Chokebreaker was a thing of beauty. Lashley's holy shit dive through the cage. The New Breed vs. Originals Extreme Rules match. That should have been the Mania match.

The brand overall....after it's failed attempt to recreate the aura of the original ECW, they just let loose and let it become a solid wrestling show which (to me) was the pre-cursor of today's NXT.
Honestly, it was the last time I was ever vested into an entire WWE program.
As far as matches, it did provide us with Christian vs. Shelton Benjamin in a ladder match which was an amazing bout that hardly gets mentioned.

The New Breed vs. Originals Extreme Rules match. That should have been the Mania match. It caused a thread boom like 10 minutes after the show had ended because we were still talking about it. Things I remember that haven't been mentioned (Big Show and Christian's ECW title runs go without mention) - From it's beginning till it's end there was no more consistently entertaining wrestling show on television. - Brie vs Nikki main evented an episode, the go home episode for Wrestlemania 24, which that episode was just video packages for matches at Mania, Access footage, and Nikki vs Brie. - The 15 Minutes of Fame challenges, and how that brought about a really fun feud between MooreWang and The In Crowd. - The Halloween episode which featured the Monster Mash battle royal, and also saw Tommy Dreamer dressed as Paul Heyman vs Nunzio dressed as a vampire, at one point apples were thrown. - The possibility of getting a superhero vs supervillain feud between Hurricane and The Ripper Paul Burchill, and how Burchill and Katie Lea as supervillains, didn't even last 1 freaking month. - Mark Henry complete reinvigorating his career, even after before this he had feuded with Undertaker.

Some of my favorites that come to mind:
6/13/06 - The Sandman vs. The Zombie (so bad it's good; not to mention that promo from The Zombie) 6/25/06 - Lumberjack Match: John Cena vs. Sabu (from Vengeance) 7/11/06 - Ric Flair vs. The Big Show 8/1/06 - CM Punk vs. Justin Credible (Punk's debut) 8/1/06 - Batista vs. The Big Show (one of my favorite examples of a crowd shoving it to Vince) 11/21/06 - Rob Van Dam vs. Hardcore Holly (wouldn't call this an awesome match by any stretch, but memorable solely for the gash in Holly's back) 12/3/06 - Extreme Elimination Chamber (from December to Dismember; people were pissed about the participants but the truth is this is a really good match if you go back and rewatch) 4/3/07 - ECW Originals vs. The New Breed (my vote for the best match done on WWE's ECW television show)

Ric Flair and later Chris Benoit tag teaming with CM Punk. Not one-on-ones, but he teamed with two guys who were almost total time paradoxes in terms of the year (2007). Benoit would die a few weeks later and Flair retired the following year. Not bad for guy who debuted the year prior.
Goldust's noticeably reinvigorated career and health. New predominately black attire, fresh matches, and even a feud with newcomer Sheamus (of which he beat him on Superstars!).
Christian returning in the most anticlimactic way possible when a storyline between Jeff & Matt that would've been so much more fitting for him, and somehow, someway, bouncing back from that and having an awesome feud over the ECW title with Swagger and going right up there with Punk as the most memorable WWECW Champion. He proved he could carry a show. His injuries and Vince's insufferable outlook prevented him from doing that on the big stage.
Regal finally getting a chance to showcase his talents on the mic and in the ring again. He was the top heel of the show for awhile, and it was awesome to see him have one last big televised run.
Tyson Kidd (& the Hart Dynasty) and Trent Barreta debuted on ECW.
Seeing the ECW originals one last time was cool for awhile. Definitely not something that could be sustainable long term, I loved the idea of a few more RVD/Sabu matches and seeing Dreamer and Stevie Richards get another shot. That was cool to me. And whatever could've came from Kurt Angle if he wasn't in such a bad place at the time.
John Morrison having great match after great match on both Smackdown and ECW from 2008-2009. It was mostly SD in 2009, but I recall a really great match with Evan Bourne on ECW. ECW even found a good role for The Miz, who up until that point was not somebody anyone thought anything of.
Jericho coming in to face Christian in a match many people were wanting to see again with Jericho's new heel persona.
Big Show's ECW title run. Should've been a flop, but it wasn't.
CM Punk. I didn't watch a lot of 2007-2008 ECW, but I when I did, it was to see CM Punk.
I can honestly say 2009 ECW was some of the most fun I had watching wrestling in my 18+ years of viewership. Top to bottom, a solid show. I doubt they'll make it for marketing concerns, but a WWECW focused DVD collection would be a day-one buy for me. People really should've tried to get over the name and appreciate what it became in its last few years.

In addition to stuff already mentioned.
The Abraham Washington show, DJ Gabriel, Ricky Ortiz, sheamus, Hawkins and ryders debut...so many great stuff. I loved it beginning to end. Even chavo champ and Kane. Except that awful mania match.

it's hard to pinpoint where it went wrong with me. It was obvious from the first episode on Sci-Fi that it wasn't going to be the same as the original ECW, but they still had some intriguing stuff with CM Punk debuting and RVD having the belt. But slowly but surely the Originals were departing, and the ECW title went from a third world title to pretty much what the WHC was at its later days after Lashley vacated it. I just couldn't get invested in it. I think it could've still been ok, it remained its own entity, and not the third brand.

Christian vs Zach Ryder is one of my favorite feuds ever, costarring Tommy Dreamer. Some of my fondest memories are the Christian vs Zach Ryder ECW Title matches.
Absolutely hated the Lashley vs McMahon stuff. I know a lot of people love doo-rag McMahon but it failed spectacularly IMO.
For whatever reason I enjoyed the ECW weekly shows more than the NXT weekly shows. I guess there was more wackiness? I don't know. The NXT specials are better than anything ECW ever had, but the ECW show was gold.
