The ratings miss him, but the question is, do YOU miss him? Edit: to reflect the actual return date.

Miss his matches, but not his booking.

If it means that this Roman/Sheamus is dead, yes.
If it means that the belt is going off f***ing Sheamus soon, please come back Based Cena.

Yes the main event scene is a disaster and needs him.

Nope.
I'm beyond bored of him at this point, he's about as dull and stale as you can possibly get. Exactly the same character as he was in 2005 but with a slightly different hat on.
Now saying that, he's better than Sheamus or Roman Reigns, at least he gets a strong reaction from the crowd. I'll give him that.

It would take at least a year or more before I'd want to some him in a wrestling context again to be real honest.
Great guy, supremely talented, but I'm fine with not seeing Cena the wrestling character or a LONG time.

I read he'll be taking a lot more time off from this point on so at least we won't see him on tv weekly. Who knows, we know he won't be at TLC however.

He needs to, he's earned it. I'm a bigger fan of Cena with him not being on screen as much. He's lost his "I'm invincible because I'm here every week as 'the guy' and you know it" thing about him.

Yes the main event scene is a disaster and needs him. It doesn't need Cena specifically, it needs a top tier talent that can be the face of the company. The problem is Cena's the only one they have. He won't be around forever though... They need to establish a successor or two by giving some guys that the fans will accept a chance on top. Someone like Ambrose, Ziggler, Rusev or Owens. Cena being gone and so many being injured makes this the perfect time to elevate others who may not get the chance otherwise. Instead we're getting the return of the Reigns super push and half the people on Raw in multiple matches. Cena coming back won't fix any problems, it'll just exacerbate future ones.

When he returns he should go in a different direction: At least him against Owens would be a good match. He never held the Intercontinental Title so I hope he finally gets a run and then makes a John Cena Intercontinental Championship Open.

No.
I don't care how many Sheamus or Roman Reigns title reigns we need to sit through, WWE will be a better product when they stop relying on the John Cena safety net.

Imagine Cena vs Roman!
DOUBLE THE SCREENTIME! DOUBLE THE ROMAN! DOUBLE THE FAN HANDSLAPS! DOUBLE THE BOOS!

I like Cena but nah. He needs this time off especially on how stale he was becoming. Like even the US Open Challenge was getting stale with it becoming a finisher kickout fest or looking strong in defeat for the thousandth time. Plus it's refreshing to see how the product isn't on a heavy focus on Cena. Like we haven't even had one injury update on Cena mention. It just feels so fresh in a stale product.

To me, it was great right after he left, and the shows had this feel of trying to use all their talent really well to make up for Cena's absence. The two Raws after he left showed serious promise. I don't know what happened after that. I'm not looking forward to him coming back, at all, but I don't think the current product is good so he might improve things. The thing I'm dreading is that Raw where he comes back. Probably opening segment of the show, cold open. God forsaken trumpets and troll smile as he gets booed out of Barclays or wherever. I'm so over the whole "look, you hate me. but I'm aware of it. isn't that neat?"

Kind of
I miss him as US Champion, but don't miss him in the world title picture. Unless he wins the belt and does a World Title Open Challenge; that could be fun since the US Open Challenge was often the highlight of the show.

At this point, I would be happy never to see him again, even if he's not in the main event.
