So, after 10 plus years, the little indy that took New York, the Northeast, and maybe the nation by storm is closing up shop. That's right, my local indy, Squared Circle Wrestling is shutting down and is closing out their run in style. This week marks the last three shows in company history with a show on the 17th in Binghamton, the 18th in Elmira, and the 20th in Syracuse. Tickets are still available for Binghamton and you should go if you can. Now, I've been following this company for 8 years, it got me back into wrestling at a point where I wasn't sure I wanted to stick around. I was starting college and we had a club at Oswego State called the Pro Wrestling Club where we would go around, riff on Raw and head out to shows. I made a lot of friends in that organization, including 3 guys who wrestling in New York, and the couple of friends I'm going to this show with. 2CW has been referred to by some as the PWG of the East Coast, giving fans dream match after dream match scenario. They've also been a launching pad for guys like Colin Delaney, Jimmy Olsen, Brodie Lee(Luke Harper), Eddie Edwards, Sami Callihan and played host to matches involving top indy guys like Samoa Joe, Daniel Bryan, Kevin Owens, Cesaro, among others. So, with the company about to shut the doors, they've offered up a gift just in time for the holiday season for any and all wrestling fans. 2 sets is a double show on Sunday afternoon/night that will be streamed worldwide on USTREAM. Now, the interesting part of this event is that it's taking on an "Unscripted" like quality. We know who has been booked for the show, but the company isn't announcing any matches for it. Here's the details you need to know if you wanna watch Show 1: Start time 3:30, end likely near 6 1 Hour Intermission Show 2: Start time 7, run until whenever Also, since you are probably wondering, here's the prospective roster of people announced. The company has promised surprises as well so if they are in the tri-state area this weekend, they could show up. 2CW Champion Sami Callihan 2CW Tag Team Champions The Young Bucks AJ Styles Kenny Omega Johnny Gargano Candice LaRae Jessicka Havoc AR Fox 2 Cold Scorpio Eddie Edwards Dalton Castle Michael Elgin Matt Cross Wrestle-1's Yusuke Kodama All of 2CW's regulars (Colin Delaney, Cheech, Supercop Dick Justice, Slyck Wagner Brown, Sean Carr Jason Axe, Jay Freddie, Kevin Graham, Brute Van Slyke, Isys Ehpex, Michael Christopher, Steve McKenzie, Guero Loco, Rob Cook, Superbeast, Bin Hamin, Pete D. Order, Ted Goodz, Nick Ando, maybe others I'm forgetting) So, in my opinion, it's a pretty sweet deal, especially at everyone's favorite price, FREE/ That's right, you can watch as little or as much of the event as you want from your home or wherever you plan to watch for FREE. The link to watch the show is right HERE. If been around for the other 2CW threads in the past, this is the same service that put on the other two events which if I recall didn't sputter or many any errors to my knowledge, so stream quality should be pretty choice. Well, that's it for this post. I'll be posting some classic 2CW matches and moments here in the thread as we get closer to the end. If you've ever been to a 2CW event and want to share your experiences with others that would be nifty as well. I hope you'll all check out one of the best kept secrets in Indy Wrestling over the past decade as they say goodbye one week from tonight. Thanks...

Is there a reason why they are closing? No one knows, popular theory is burnout of the guys who have run the thing for 10 years, I think for them it finally became something more akin to work then a couple of dudes having a blast and they rather end it before it just becomes boring or lose what they think made it something special. Other theories are a money thing, a potential NXT indy raid cleaning some of these non-TV indys out and making it more like the old territory system, or my personal favorite, they sold to the E and will become re-branded as NXT: NY

Was 2CW the company a couple years back that did a free iPPV? I believe the main event featured John Morrison and the card featured Kevin Steen and Colt Cabana?
Being pretty vague here but it's honestly all I remember. If it was them, I remember watching the show and thinking they'd make a good TV product.

All I remember from 2CW is the pointless campaign they ran against CHIKARA a year or two back. Just made them come off as really petty.

I give them 3 years before they run another show. It's like wrestling retirements. Promotions that fold, yet still run "final shows" always have some sort of "comeback" show. The only ones that fold and stay gone are the ones that aren't even able to run a "final show" as a gimmick for ticket sales.

My friend who I'm going to the show with says if they do come back, they shouldn't be allowed to for 5 years. I also think there are enough decent promotions in CNY to pick up the 2CW talent, even moving into their old stomping grounds that they may not have to come back.

If an advertised final show for a promotion does really well, it's almost expected that they'll say "You've shown us such great support, now we will continue running shows." Time will tell.

Went to two 2CW shows and has a blast at both. CNY isn't exactly a hotbed of Indie Wrestling, so it's sad to see this one go.

Set one is over, set two starts around 715. You missed some crazy awesome stuff (Bullet Club, Elgin v Van Slyke, LaRae v Havok, and slyck wagner brown v 2 Cold Scorpio)stuff, and maybe the worst finish of the year.

It was a great show - and Sami Callahan and Dalton Castle put on a PPV quality match - but holy shit it was long.

Unbelievable time though, hats off to Josh and the whole 2CW family for 10 awesome years. Hope all of you who caught the stream enjoyed and if you didn't maybe it'll be archived so ya'll can catch it if you want.
