Sigh, yes another pessimism thread on FAN. Though actually I'm not really pessimistic about it so much as just indifferent. I think its mainly because this movie has been so incredibly over hyped for well over a year now that I'm at a point where I'm just totally over it. Heck, Star Wars as a whole has been pretty over hyped ever since those prequel movies started coming out, and that was back when I was in high school. I just felt inclined to make this thread because I hope that I'm not the only one having this experience.

My only beef with Star Wars is that because the theater I go to see movies after work sometimes at 9am is gonna have 24 continuous screenings of the new one Thursday/Friday they've cut out the early morning showtimes for a week starting last Friday.
I could've been seeing that dumbass Chris Hemsworth Moby Dick not really movie after work last week/this week but no.

I've never been hyped for anything Star Wars. Maybe because no one in my family was a big fanatic for it.
I've seen the original trilogy and thought it was okay. Prequels are a different story. Hell, I've never seen Episode II.
I'll probably go see the new one but I'm definitely in no rush. Me being constantly reminded about it with every commercial definitely isn't helping either.

My only experience with it is through one of the LEGO games. Other than that, I've never had any interest in Star Wars. Lots of people do, and that's fine... Just doesn't do anything for me.

Star Wars is a movie that everyone should watch at least once in their lifetime. Whether or not they like it is irrelevant. Not liking Star Wars is often blown out of proportion.
And this is coming from a fan.

I don't have plans on seeing the new film, although I may at some point. I love the first 3 from back in the day, Saw the 2nd batch once apiece and I'm good on never watching them again-they just didn't blow me away.
This, I know is my best chance of seeing some of the original cast, and with each successive film, they'll have less and less as we get used to these new characters, and I'm stubborn and kind of set in my ways and prefer to stick with what I already know and I'm comfortable with, so yea-maybe I'll watch it-maybe.

I am in a state of cautious optimism. I'm thinking there is no way they can be worse than the prequels. Lawrence Kasdan, who wrote Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi and Raiders of the Lost Ark, is back on board with this one. The new Star Trek movies felt more like Star Wars than anything, so I'm fairly optimistic about J.J. Abrams taking the helm. The old gang back together with their contractually obligated beards.
Honestly I started being optimistic once it was clear that it was being pried out of Lucas's fingers.

I'm franchised out in general when it comes to movies. Someone will probably end up making me see Star Wars but I wouldn't be upset if I never saw it at all.

I just watched the prequels for the first , and wow it was utter crap . The only thing I enjoyed was Liam Neeson , and Samuel - but really could either of these ever do any wrong ? I am watching the original 3 before this weekend , I am hoping it changes my opinion on this brand

Utterly bored by the hype and the hype for the hype, so I caved and read the spoilers.
This sounds like a fudging mess.

I can understand being suffocated by the hype. It's ridiculous how saturated the market is and how gross some of the ad campaigns are.
But really the only thing I'm worried about in the actual film is Rey turning out to be Poochie/Mary Sue/Alice from RE.
