The tv thread made me want to start a magazine thread in the same vein-again I'm counting my first years of 87-89.
Pro Wrestling Illustrated-The grandaddy of them all
Inside Wrestling-The first wrestling magazine I ever bought was in the summer of 87 with an article on Hulk Hogan and Harley Race:"How Fate Took The Greatness of the Violent Feud"
Sports Review Wrestling: Loved it, didn't like their roll cal of champions layout if I'm not mistaken.
The Wrestler-I liked it, but didn't care for their annuals
Wrestling's Main Event-Maybe my favorite of them all-I loved the news layout, but they seemed to bitch about the WWF a lot, or some of their correspondents did anyway.
Wrestling Superstars:LOVED their Dream Matches
Wrestling Eye-Great for pictures
Wrestling Fury-Kind of a step below Wrestling Eye-I liked it, but it was generic compared to the Aptermags
Gold Belt Wrestling-pretty generic
WWF Magazine-Rarely ever saw this-no newstand in town sold it
and there was one that billed itself as "Wrestling's only newspaper" which I only saw two issues of, but was great.
I'm forgetting the occasional generic wrestling magazine and not counting truly my all time favorite "Wrestling (Insert year here) which were only annual releases of course
You?

100% with you on Wrestling Superstars. Bought those sometimes JUST for the dream matches.
Also, PWI. Long ago here, I actually quoted Eddie Ellner from PWI in regards to Saba Simba. Someone else here called me out on it. It was glorious.

I seem to recall in one of the PWI year end awards with fan made write in awards, Saba Simba award was SIMBA- See, Im Makin Bucks Again....it was clever when I was 13.....or was this what you were referring to? I have a bunch of Superstars still...one is prophetic and chilling...the 87 or 88 Dream Match between Savage and Luger had a lot of elements of reality yet to come.

what was the shady one with all sorts of misspellings such as "Mr. Fugi", "Sean Michaels", "Rick Flaire" and ads for apartment wrestling with the old school black bars covering up the good parts?

Got these three as gifts last year. And was surprised at how long the apartment wrestling articles were in two of them. Starting at around 83 or 84 thru 93ish I bought every one of the Weston/Apter mags.I would pick up other mags off and on. And out of the Apter ones The Wrestler was always my favorite. Back in 98 I ended up selling all of mine.Got a decent price for them. But the guy I sold them to ended up selling them for almost triple what he paid me. Oh well.

Wrestling's Main Event - My very first magazine, with a closeup of Hulk Hogan vs. Sid Justice from WrestleMania VIII on the cover and a headline of "BIG CHANGES IN THE WWF!"
WWF Magazine - My first issue was the September '92 issue, with Papa Shango on the cover.
WCW Magazine - Also started with the 9/92 edition; Rick Rude and Nikita Koloff graced the cover.
Pro Wrestling Illustrated - The first issue I read had Ric Flair on the cover with the headline "HIS SUMMERSLAM PLAN WORKS TO PERFECTION."
The Wrestler
Inside Wrestling
Sports Review Wrestling
Wrestling Superstars
WrestleAmerica - This publication usually had a smaller magazine inside that focused on a particular topic.
WOW Magazine
Wrestling's Bad Guys - Started as a smaller publication within WrestleAmerica called Rulebreaker and later expanded into its own magazine. As you can probably guess, it celebrated the heels of wrestling. Each issue had a Top 20 and a Bottom 20; sometimes a wrestler would be on both lists. For example: Jerry Lawler made the Top 20 because of his actions in the WWF, and the Bottom 20 because he was a face in Memphis. I vividly remember a story that completely shredded Uncensored '95, going so far as to reveal that the King of the Road match had been pre-taped and edited. That was something you weren't supposed to know back then! Other stories included an analysis of why Rick Rude was better than Dustin Rhodes, and one that supposedly proved that Bret Hart was a racist.

That is exactly what I was talking about, lol. Looks like we were mistaken about it being Ellner.

WWF magazine when I was a little Hulkamaniac, and the occasional PWI
When I got older I picked up a PWI covering Hall and Nash coming to WCW, and that hooked me. They weren't current enough for my liking so I mostly kept to the awesome Almanacs and 500 lists.
Then when I was an adult I fell in love WOW still miss that magazine.

Power Slam magazine. Here in Ireland and the UK, it was kinda our answer to WON. It went outta business last year pretty abruptly.

I have tons of magazines. Every week, I spent my allowance buying nothing but wrestling magazines. I read WWF Magazine, Pro Wrestling Illustrated, The Wrestler, Inside Wrestling, Raw Magazine, WCW Magazine, ECW Magazine, WOW Magazine, Smackdown Magazine, all of the special issues, & the Almanacs. I still have my magazines up in my attic. I still buy PWI Magazine. I order 2 issues at a time online and have it mailed to my house and I also buy the WWE Special Magazines that they release every few months. None of my magazines are in good condition because I used to cut pictures out of the wrestlers to make a collage for my wall.
