Revolution by The Beatles being used by Nike. First, they're labor-practices are horrid, screw them. Second, Nike only got the rights to the song because Michael Jackson stuck a knife in Paul McCartney's back.

It's even more irritating when they get the rights, and then alter the song.
"Turn Around" is about loneliness, not hunger.

Any good song stripped down to an acoustic guitar or piano featuring a girl or guy with a high pitched childish voice.

Between the Jackson Hewitt Commercial a while back , and the current Dish Commercial it's like tv is actively trying to make me hate "This is how we do it"

The song most played at weddings is "I Will Always Love You" by Witney Houston. The song is about two people breaking up for good. No wonder so many marriages end in divorce.

Paint It Black by the Rolling Stones has been ruined for me because they use it every time a new COD game comes out. All it does is remind me how mediocre those games are now and how many douchebags ruin it for everybody by taking the game way too seriously. Thus, because I'm reminded of all of that, the song is ruined.

Back In Black by ACDC. I don't hate the song, the point that EVERYONE has used it at one time or another. It's just been done to death at this point.

I remember hearing a story that Preparation H,or a similar product wanted to license Johnny Cash's Ring Of Fire for an ad, but his estate wouldn't allow it.
Because that is nothing close to what the song is about.

In preparation for the 2012 Olympics, the ads used London Calling by The Clash, a song primarily about the destruction of London.

Vonage using "Woo Hoo" for all their ads. it was always loud and started the instant the commercial did so you weren't given any warning to mute that annoying piece of shit. I haven't seen one in years, but those are still my most hated ads of all time

Sweet Home Alabama for KFC. Doesnt even make sense since KFC stands for KENTUCKY Fried Chicken. If they really wanted a song to shill their product, why not hire the Kentucky Headhunters at least? Well, KFC started in Indiana anyway so...

Well, KFC started in Indiana anyway so... Sanders was from Indiana, his first "restaurant" was a gas station in Kentucky.

On the UK side, any variation of Go Compare, "It's really alright" and "I Need A Balti".

Also, this isn't the same really, but a few years back the X-Factor contestants covered "Heroes" by David Bowie for Help The Heroes.
Quotation marks and all.
Good one.

Wasn't it Nike that used Johnny Cash's version of Hurt for a commercial? Completely awful.

Forgot about this from a few Christmases ago...an auto maker (I think Toyota) used "Holiday" by Vampire Weekend in their Christmas themed ad, and I heard it so many times a day that I just stopped listening to the band until their next album came out. The ad was that annoying.

It's been around for years and sometimes we think "oh crap" sometimes we're indifferent and sometimes we think "Dammit they've ruined this song! Sell outs!!" So what has really set you off if even for a moment? The "Viva Viagra" spots pissed me off, not so much because I thought they were ruining Elvis' legacy, but it was so goddamned stupid.
I'm not a huge Allman Brothers fan, but I hate Geico commercials that go out of their way to do something stupid and get very far away from their point to promote their stupid insurance. I guess I've become numb to all of it now, but I woulda been really pissed years ago if they had used Pantera in the Carl's Jr. Commercial Oh, and Swiffer ruined Blondie's "One Way or Another" for me for years. All their commercials sucked You? I'm sure I'm forgetting some that really did annoy me Wait, what the f***?
