I work in an off license (liquor store) and I'm working 12pm-3pm so not too bad really. Double time pay, and when I finish I'm going to my girlfriends, so get to spend time with her and her family. I've been telling customers not to come in as a joke but you know some people will come in because they didn't stock up on booze haha

What do you guys do for work where you are there on Christmas? Sometimes I have to, but only when it falls on Sunday, because I work in radio and we run church services. Restaurant that's open 24/7. I was told two different stories from 2 different people about working on Christmas who have in the past. It's crazy as all hell and ultra busy or painfully slow.

Christmas isn't a holiday here so yep, classes are still on. I'm quite looking forward to it before since it's usually just a game/fun day. I've planned a big treasure hunt for my class which should be fun... or chaotic.

It occurs to me that it doesn't look good when I do that.

Don't really celebrate Christmas anymore but I haven't worked anywhere that is open on Christmas day so haven't ran into this anyway. Besides, I'd be more inclined to ask off for college play-off day (Either New Years Eve or Day based on the year) rather than Christmas to be honest.

It's usually the one day we're guaranteed off, although if the plant had a "fire watch", you bet your bippy I'm taking those 8 hours overtime. ("Fire watch" is basically they have one volunteer walk around and make sure the plant don't burn down.) When you're used to working holidays (and get paid days off at your own leisure), you can always create your own to make up for it. Shoot, I've worked as the clock struck Midnight on New Year's Day. I'd be with a co-worker stacking ceiling time off the line and just casually say, "By the way, Happy New Year."

I have to put in four hours from ten in the morning to two in the afternoon, so I'll be out in time for dinner with the fam. My boss is kinda ticked at me because of how I laughed at her when she "requested" more people volunteer to work Xmas. I chuckled and said "You're not asking, you're threatening us." Guess she doesn't like having the BS get cleaved through.

I work in the afternoon on Christmas Eve (Store closes early), and I'm off on Christmas itself, though I do get three nonexistent hours added to the schedule.

I work a brief Xmas eve shift. Hopefully I can get off early and wrap up any gifts I forgot at the last minute, but most of the big stuff is out of the way thankfully since I'm on a budget now.

We usually get the 25th and 26th off (Christmas and Boxing Day?). This year we were told it would be the 24th and 25th, but....
...on Friday the president of the company sent out an email saying that he thought we should be open the 24th and asking people to come work in exchange for a comp day off in January or February. Haven't decided yet if I am going to work yet.

At this point in my life, I'd like a quick shift on Christmas, just something to break the day up a little bit. I love my family but being around each other for an entire day is not our strong suit.

Due to Christmas Eve being on a Thursday this year, and I only work weekends, I am off now till Boxing Day next Saturday. The downside of that is I lose an hours pay on that day (doing a 9.30-6 instead of a 7 finish) and have to work on the 28th as it's classed as a Bank Holiday here in England, the upside is 8 hours extra pay for that Monday and a half day's holiday added to my yearly total
