to all the yes voters: what would have happened with him after winning the Punk feud and the title?... ...yeah

Yes. I wasn't in favor of it only because I really thought WWE had a good plan in place with Punk's long title reign, but that turned out to be wrong as it was for him to simply drop the title to Rock in a forgettable match at Royal Rumble 2013. So yes, they should have just pulled the trigger on Ryback at Hell in a Cell 2012 and then had him lose it in the triple threat at Survivor Series 2012 after The Shield debuted and destroyed him and Cena, allowing Punk to pin Cena to win back the title.

I would've had him win the Rumble and face Big Show for the WHC at WrestleMania.

to all the yes voters: what would have happened with him after winning the Punk feud and the title?... ...yeah He has a couple of months, transitions it to The Rock, you can still have him face Mark Henry, but he beats him setting himself up as the new dominant force and a former champion so he's a bit higher up the card and you can call him into the main event.

Tough call.
I became a huge fan of Ryback during this time.
Cons: It was his first time out the gate in a title program and Punk had just recently turned heel.
Pros: He was super over, and was a face that felt different, which was very refreshing.
Honestly, I probably wouldn't have done it, but I'd go out of my way to protect the guy since he's the next face I go to for the title after Cena got it back.

No
I like Ryback because he's a goofy meatbag, but he's certainly not world title material and never will be.

Absolutely, yes.
There's so much talk on these board about how WWE needs to listen more to the fans when it comes to booking, this is a perfect example. I don't give a f*** what "plan" they had for Punk's reign, Ryback was OVER. When the crowd is going so crazy that is shakes the hard camera it shouldn't be that hard to figure out where to go. Honestly the disappointment over that was a big reason why I started following the product less.

I would have. It was a case of the company tripping ass backwards into something exciting and fresh.
Instead, they torpedoed him so bad over the next 6 months, that it isnt even funny.

I'm shocked they didn't. He never would have been "the guy", but you could have had a solid Main Eventer for life.

I wouldn't have done it in 2012 at Hell in a Cell...BUT, I would have pulled the trigger at that TLC match on that first Raw.
That way, the "undefeated status" isn't an elephant in the room, and you have the chance for Ryback to get revenge on The Shield and Punk in the same ultra-violent go-round.
Then a 3-Way at the Rumble with Punk, Ryback and The Rock where Rock pins Punk.
But it's really that the undefeated wrecking ball got repeatedly hosed by the Shield that he started to lose luster. Losing to Punk, The Shield, Henry, Cena, Cena and Cena in a matter of months torpedoed his mystique.

Not having him end Punk's run was one of their biggest mess up's of the 2010's.

Seriously, The Big Guy had momentum like a speeding train. Who was gonna stop him in 2012? Certainly not CM Punk.
