Just imagine Sin Cara 1 doing the LUCHA LUCHA chant! The arena's roof wouldn't be able to contain it! If Sami Zayn managed to tear his shoulder by lifting his arm up, Sin Cara would have broken every bone in his body and contracted the bird flu.

And despite Sin Cara Uno being a quivering pile of broken, wheezing flesh, Del Rio would still run up and kick the shit out of him.

A collection of all of his recorded botches would be a fun watch. What a terrible pick up for HHH. He's had some accidental duds among his great hiring. A couple more: I had to look this video up after seeing those Heath gifs.

Del Rio was EXTRA Aggressive anytime Mistico Cara was around! Del Rio continuing to kick Cara as hard as he possibly could after he broke his wrist and the match had been stopped and having to be shoot-restrained by the ref is one of the most awkward moments in recent WWE.

Do you think dimming the lights for his matches contributed to the botches?

I'm pretty sure the Slater match is Hunico. In fact, it might be the "recorded twice" match.

Do you think dimming the lights for his matches contributed to the botches? I own a Sin Cara mask and it's not the easiest to see out of, so it certainly didn't help. I'd argue the biggest issue was him completely skipping developmental though.

Get to the point. I'll always unironically love this moment. The fact this man pointed so damn well that the audience was instantly able to tell who was the real Sin Cara solely through pointing is hilarious and shows just how charismatic the dude was. Granted, botches and all that but man I can't lie--I was a fan of Sin Cara Uno. He was awesome.

I really wanted Sin Cara 1 to succeed. I mean, how could someone not get excited about his signing after seeing how agile and energetic his ring work in Mexico was? However once he got here, it just seemed like he immediately didn't care. Sure the Del Rio match sticks out as a prime example of him not caring, but I mean when he first came in, he had some great workers doing everything they could to get him over. Bryan, Rhodes, Bourne, etc all tried to get a showstopping match out of him, and they all just came out decent but unremarkable. I, along with a lot of others on here came to his defense so many times, figuring he would come around and really start to shine, but that payoff never came. If I were to pick his best match, it was probably the match with the other Sin Cara in Mexico. It was a spotlight match, it was given time, and was probably in front of a bunch of fans that followed him before he signed with WWE, so maybe extra motivation was at play. Aside from that I can't think of another match that really warrants praise.
The only thing I wouldn't hold against him was that terrible mood lighting gimmick. That was stupid and added nothing to his matches except a higher possibility of injury for everyone in the match. If he was able to skip developmental, and slide into a cozy spot right on RAW with big hype, I think he could have requested the mood lights be axed due to injury concerns. Who would have blamed him?
But yeah, I think his effort just wasn't there. Instead of seeing how he could have show stopping matches with guys like Bryan, Cesaro, Rhodes and others, I think he was expecting to come in and immediately have guys like Ryback and Mark Henry selling his head scissor takedowns like they were common rudos....which wasn't going to happen, at least until he got over.
I'm much happier with someone like Kalisto on the roster as the high flying lucha star, as he seems to have a good attitude and a willingness to work with the other talents. And on top of that, he shows more highlight reel worthy stuff in one match than Sin Cara 1 showed in his whole run.

In retrospect, that weird-ass lighting during his matches probably didn't help with the botches.

The original Sin Cara's failure was due a combination of factors, most of them outside his control. WWE fast-tracking him to the main roster without giving him time acquiesce to their style, pairing him up with guys who had zero experience facing luchadores, making his first major opponent Chavo Guerrero - it almost seemed like they deliberately wanted to sabotage him. The refusal to learn English and the wellness violation is on him but I think overall WWE has much more responsibility in Sin Cara's run being a failure.

One of my all time favorite NEWZ stories was Sin Cara backstage was bragging all of his matches in Mexico were shoots.

Get to the point. All-time great WWE moment. The complete authority and confidence with which he points is a thing of beauty. It was as if his anger at someone impersonating him was secondary to his offense at how weak their pointing was. The way his finger shakes, it's like, is it quaking out of the pure rage that someone would dare try to steal his point, or is it shaking with the raw power present in the point itself? Probably both. Pray none of us ever has to find out. In retrospect, it should have been canon that Sin Cara's mysterious power was so great that they made him wrestle under synthetic yellow sunlight that was designed to sap his strength, this is what made him botch.

I'd argue the biggest issue was him completely skipping developmental though. Wound have been even better if he'd worn his Mistico mask and contacts; botching left and right while looking coked out of his mind.
