What I've always found funny is that with trunks versus long tights, there's like a weird transition zone of in-shapedness versus bulk/fatness where after a certain size, trunks suddenly become more flattering than long tights or pants, despite covering up less. For one example, think of how flabby Chris Hero looked in trunks despite having a fairly similar build to what Edge had towards the end of his run, but then imagine Dusty Rhodes in long tights instead of trunks. For another example, terrible pic, but also consider how awful Samoa Joe looked during the Nation of Violence run with long pants and I think long tights at some points too.

Part of the problem was that those long pants had donuts on them. Joking aside, there is that weird dynamic where the hiding of the legs means there is more focus on the upper body build, and you start observing more faults in the physique.

When you say "without trunks" do you mean they should go nude? I honestly don't mind it when guys wear trunks, as long as they have the body for it. And if they have to wear something other than trunks, I'd rather it be long tights, a singlet, bike shorts, Shorts like Kevin Owens, or even a bodysuit like Goldust/Stardust as long as the person looks the part of a professional athlete. I like wrestlers to have actual gear unless their gimmick dictates that they don't (e.g. Bray Wyatt). This isn't directed at you, but I've always felt that people who complained seeing wrestlers in trunks were guys who had friends that called them "gay" for liking wrestling so now they want wrestlers to cover up so that it looks less "gay". Uh... no, because I'm still scarred for life from Naked Mideon. I'm not gonna lie about my sexuality; I'm bi. I'm only ashamed of my wrestling fandom when something stupid or strange that cannot be explained easily happens. But, my argument is more of the fact that wrestling trunks are not creative in terms of appearance, as if you have too many dudes running around with the same base attire, with slight color changes, it doesn't allow for a diverse environment in appearance. You kinda want your performers to have the ability to be distinguished differently and easily. Basically, what I'm saying is that I just wanna see more guys wear different ensembles. Even dudes like Bull Dempsey (who wears a traditional singlet) should be commended for doing something different. It's mostly aesthetics and has nothing to do with sexuality. Oh no, I didn't care much for Naked Mideon either. For me, I believe that it's on the creative team to give the wrestlers distinguishable gimmicks and the performers to distinguish themselves through their character work (and management to allow everyone the chance to do character work). Cody wore trunks for the majority of his career and yet allowed his personality to shine through with the Dashing and masked gimmicks. Same with Sandow as the intellectual savior. And even as you said Bull with the Bullfit gimmick. Don't get me wrong, I like more varied attires as well; I've just never bought into the idea that trunks are some kryptonite that saps a wrestler's ability to have a personality.
