I don't have many people over at my house, but currently I have relatives and occasionally my brothers girlfriend comes over and damned if they don't insist on putting their bottles and glasses right on my furniture
I leave coasters out, hell I even started putting their stuff on the coaster itself, and the other day, though she didn't protest, my brothers girlfriend got up and moved along with her bottle.
What the hell happened to some common courtesy? Why in God's name would you think I'm cool with rings on my furniture?
Anyone else experienced this? I don't get it

Just be direct. Next time don't just put their drink on a coaster, tell them that in your house you want drinks on coasters.

I was raised in a coaster-less family.
Also helps that we've never had much living room furniture.

Amen brother. I am by no means a rich person, but I do buy quality funriture, not any of that crap you put together with an allen wrench. It really irks me when I have company over and they don't use the coasters I have. Hell, I almost banned my wife's brother from my house when he put a cup on the table and left a ring.

This is antique furniture btw, but that doesn't have to be here nor there really, because I know they obviously aren't looking at what type of furniture I have in this case

I hate roller coasters. I'm scared of them.

I don't use them, though I do understand them. If I'm in a coaster home, I can adapt. Seems stupid one wouldn't be able to. It's as easy as setting your beverage on a coaster.

Some people don't use coasters or care. I know I don't in my house.
The issue is that when you are in someone else's home you should do things their way and be as respectful as possible.

Most people don't use coasters in their own home so they simply aren't used to it. If you want them to use them, you gotta specify it.

Yeah never used coasters in my house or any of my relatives or friends house. However if they put it on a coaster I would follow their lead.
