It still amazes me that a simple shaving of a mustache and hair slicking had me not realize that this was the same man. When I found out that Studd was Scott Hall, I couldn't believe it. I honestly never realized it until I read about it in an issue of Pro Wrestling Illustrated.

I barely remembered the Diamond Stud, so I was really surprised to go back and see how similar he was to what became Razor Ramon.

I knew about Hall in the AWA and remember him in the NWA in 89. I had NO IDEA he was Razor until Vince mentioned him and Nash by their real names when the nWo was starting in something-maybe he was threatening a lawsuit or something, I can't remember completely

I used to watch WCW whenever I could because it was hard to get in my area at the time. I remember it like yesterday him debuting with DDP as his manager. He was pretty much a knock off of Ravishing Rick Rude. He'd wear tear away pants and some lucky lady from the crowd would enter the ring for the opportunity to tear them off. I remember one lady fell into the corner when she did it. This was the exact same time that Kevin Nash was doing the Vinny Vegas gimmick. I laughed my ass off the first time they both appeared in the WWF as Razor and Diesel.

This promo flat out sucks. www.youtube.com/watch?v=vGI5_-UAUv8

When he first appeared I was all about it, because I was a huge Scott Hall mark even though he was a jobber. There is a Great Muta-Scott Hall tv match that's still one of my favorites of all time.
The second he came out I was like "He finally shaved off the Hogan-TA mustache, now they might push him." Steve Austin premiered the same month or so, and I was WAY into both of them, especially from following the Apter mags. The only problem was his name. No one was going to be World or US champion named The Diamond Studd. I wanted him to be Scott "The Diamond" Studd, but I dont know. DDP and Dusty had some stupid names going then.
