Kids in the Hall Season 4.
I know a lot of the American audience may not be able to tell season-to-season because #1 how it's aired in syndication and #2 how some of the episodes were edited to be spliced together, but watching them all straight through on DVD really shows a significant decrease in quality.
None of them were getting along, one member is missing from each episode, Thompson is too obsessed with pushing his own characters, Foley tones down his own comic sensibilities too much into conventional acting, Mark becomes too mainstream sketch-y, Bruce gets way too weird, and with no-one to pinball his particular style off of, Kevin never really gets going. There's like one funny sketch per episode, but it's a pretty noticeable drop-off.
But somehow they reconcile and pull it together, resulting in season 4 having a memorably strong finale, followed by season 5 arguably being the best season of the show.
Also, I want to echo how bad Season 8 of the Office and how good Season 9 of The Office is.

If you go back and watch seasons 1 and 2 it's pretty clear that they're doing a lot of stage stuff redone for TV and each kid was finding their way as a screen actor. It wasn't till later season 2 and season 3 that it became the KITH that we all now know and love.

I think Legend of Korra could fit this as I found the second season really weak but thought that the the first and final two seasons were excellent.

Well sucked is too harsh, but I didn't care for seasons 2 and 3 and 4 was just okay to me. 1 and 5 were the best/ Whoa whoa whoa, in what world is 1 a good season? It's a complete mess until Faith shows up. To each their own, I guess. Season 1 was my favorite season. I liked the whole vampire detective angle. Season 5 was my second favorite, with the supernatural law firm setup. I always prefer the episodic "Monster of the Week" format to season-long story arcs. Like how with X Files, I enjoyed the one-and-done episodes much more than the episodes dealing with the overarching conspiracy plot.

Korra's always been a headstrong character, it made perfect sense to me that her emotions regarding protecting her family would get the best of her and she wouldn't be as willing to listen to Mako's theory. Was that the issue people had? IMO, Red Dwarf Series X was a big rebound from VII and VIII. Both seasons had moments I thought were funny, but the latest felt like a return to the fun spirit of Series III through VI.
