I was watching the Summerslam 1997 match between Owen Hart and Steve Austin; up to where the botched piledriver broke Austin's neck. I cringed the entire time the referees kept helping him up. Now I'm no medical expert, but if someone has a broken neck, shouldn't you try to NOT move their neck at all? I mean it was so obvious Austin was injured because he was staying down and that they used a roll-up pin finish. It shocked me to see so many people moving him around when it was clear as day that he wasn't feeling well.

there's a difference between "that man clearly has a neck injury don't touch him" and "well he's up and moving so it can't be THAT bad"
watch the wcw thunder where buff bagwell breaks his neck to see how emts respond when its an obvious neck injury from the start

The match would have been stopped if it wasn't a "Kiss my ass match". He also refused medical help

It was a different era to. Today regardless if the guy had the gimmick of being a tough SOB or not the medical staff would check them after a stinger.

The trainers, EMT's and referees were down and they couldn't get back up.

He was probably too dazed to tell them and EMTS weren't as well trained back then as they are now.

The match would have been stopped if it wasn't a "Kiss my ass match". He also refused medical help I've heard this many times in the past and I don't believe it. I think that's what was going through Austin's head, that there's no way he's not going to finish the match, but if they had emt's come in and put him in the brace, there's no way Austin is going to kiss Hart's ass. I really wish he wouldn't have moved and let them stretcher him to the back. Maybe his career would've lasted longer and Owen could've got major heat by demanding he kiss his ass, maybe some skits at the hospital. A rematch would be huge.

Hasn't Austin said before that he wasn't sure what was wrong?
