He sure has a lot of dream matches people want to see.
Lesnar Balor Owens Barret (the first time) Cesaro (the first time) Nakamura Rusev was pretty good. Pity we only got it once.
I guess people just like it when he gets to stiff the hell out of people and then gets hit equally hard back.

Sheamus works really well with certain types of guys.

I don't hate Sheamus at all. I love the guy and am a big fan, but I do think WWE has completely dropped the ball with him as a draw/main eventer. To quote myself: I'm probably the biggest only Sheamus fan on this site lol I'd love this. I think this, along with Sheamus vs Nakamura, could be MOTY candidates if given time. Sheamus, in ring, is extremely under appreciated and I've always thought that. When they finally let him flesh out his character in his short WWE title run, he really shone on the mic too. And his match with Reigns was great. The fans went into it planning to hate it, and that's stupid. I think part of the apathy he gets is being a "WWE creation" and due in part to his horrendous booking in his early years. Sheamus is at his best when he just beats the shit out of people. He should be a "Lesnar lite". No one should be on Brock's level, but Sheamus damn right deserves to be up there. If WWE had handled him better in his early years, I think he'd be much more liked, but it's obviously too late for that now. Back then they were still "John Cena or bust" and it's resulted in an entire "lost generation" of wrestlers. Shame, really. As for the New Japan thing, I'd absolutely love it, Maggle. Sheamus vs Ishii or Shibata would be an absolute slugfest. I'm salivating at the mere thought lol

I like Sheamus too. I don't think he looks stupid, he's a great performer (in ring and on the mic), and he's great as a heel or at least a badass face. It was only when they tried to make him John Sheana that I wasn't into him, and that wasn't his fault.

Sheamus himself is pretty great - a big guy who can mesh with a number of opponents not named Del Rio or Orton.
His booking, on the other hand, tends to be rubbish.

It's hard to get back goodwill with the booking he had in 2010-2014. That's a long time of bullshit booking that killed Sheamus. The thing that started the resentment at first was the 2012 Rumble. Dude was getting booed going up against Jericho. The smarks (I really don't want to use that term) wanted Jericho to win and that didn't happen and then the Bryan Mania 28 bullshit happened. The only good thing Sheamus did during his horrible face run was have two good matches with Big Show on PPV in 2012.
Most of it is creatives fault but face Sheamus from 2011-2014 is the worst god damn character ever. Dude is awesome in the ring when he can kick freaking ass but Sheamus as a WWE character is a terrible face or heel (as we see with this current run).

I don't need to see any of those matches.
Sheamus is not terrible or anything, he's just...there.

The concept of Sheamus isn't necessarily a bad thing.
It's just WWE has managed to make him so incredibly stale.

I just want him in New Japan once before his career is over so I can see Sheamus vs Ishii, Makabe, Goto, Shibata, and every other stiff hoss in the company.
I too enjoy Sheamus. He's a very good worker.

Not a single one of those is/was a dream match for me.

Sheamus, like ADR, is an incredibly talented guy absolutely destroyed by their booking of him. They're both like the Big Show, where you're left scratching your head wondering how someone with all the tools to be a massive deal leaves you with such a feeling of apathy or dread.

I've been one of the few people to stick with Sheamus despite the company's terrible booking of him over the years. I think over time his work with smaller guys has gotten underrated. Back during his first heel run he was having a number of great matches with guys like Morrison and Bourne. He's also really good with Bryan, but for whatever reason, WWE seems determined to never let them have a real program with each other.
Sheamus is just really good in general. There have been time periods where even he has looked a bit tired of his booking and like he's a step behind here he used to be, but I'd say right now he's really inspired and trying to make the most of it. What kind of frustrates me is that he's so much better as a heel than he is as a face. His character work and promos as a heel champion have always had an entertainment value to them that none of his face work did.
This is what happens when WWE insists on pushing a guy 'their way'. Fans resent them and if the company isn't interested in switching it up it attaches a stigma to those guys for the rest of their careers there. There's a lot of stuff they could still do with Sheamus, but without character/career rehab, I'm afraid that people's lack of interest in him holds us from these matches.

The thing about all of those is that I don't want to see Sheamus win a single one of them.

I like Sheamus. He's great and almost always delivers in the ring. He even had a good (or at least entertaining) match with Khali for f***s sake. It just seems like they're always booking him the exact opposite way they should be.
Over as a monster heel? Chickenshit! Not getting reactions? World champion! Getting hot as a silent badass face? Silly promos! Need something to do before winning the Rumble? Endless pointless matches! Get some rep back after winning the Rumble? Squash the popular new main eventer and wear a t-shirt that says "18 seconds" unironically! People like the challengers better? Shit in their cars!
And so on.
