Enzo was injured, so the Ascension took on such top 2014 tag teams as the New Age Outlaws and Too Cool.

I feel they can be redeemed if they either become campy faces or do an APA and change gimmick.

I feel they can be redeemed if they either become campy faces or do an APA and change gimmick. The name/gimmick can be redeemed as long as Konnor is long gone. Their goofy look has grown on me... but my goodness Konnor is the biggest pile of suck on the entire planet. His only redeeming quality is "Big" and a lot of other guys can do that better than he does.

They were only good with Kenneth Cameron. The original theme and Camerons light in palm thingy was amazing.

I feel like Konnor gives them the campy and fun edge though, everything from the evil cackle and the YAH jabs, he gets more into the few promos Ascension seem to do. On their recent NXT appearances you can tell Konnor loves the crowd's reactions and plays to them well.

Kenneth Cameron nka Bram was pretty damn good in the earlier incarnation. I just think Konnor is awful. His solo entrance is still one of my favorite things ever. Look it up, ASAP. I couldn't find it, you got a link or something I should search?

What's the deal with "YEAH, YEAH, YEAH!" ? It's YAH. It's the sound Konnor makes when he punches someone. Ah yes, my favourite Death Grips song, "Konnor (He goes YAH)"

They were dominant because they WERE the NXT tag division.
there were no other teams so they'd come out squash a random thrown together team or legend team on special occasions but taht was about it.

I guess I'm the only one on here that liked the Ascension.
Their gimmick was pretty simple in NXT. Two strong, indestructible guys that wrecked other tag teams. Didn't seem like WWE could screw that up.
Then they decided to make them straight up Road Warriors knockoffs, and then had the old wrestlers beat them up. That really killed Ascension off after that.
I think having them join forces with the Wyatts would have been a good move. But WWE had split the Wyatt Family up around that time, which was another dumb move.

I saw them live at an MSG house show in 2014 about a week before Mania 30 when they were still in NXT. I remember being kinda impressed by them because they did their own version of the eliminator as a finisher. But in hindsight, i should have figured that terrible booking aside, their gimmick would not get over.

I remember when the Ascension were awesome. Then Bram got canned and it was all downhill from there.

They never should have held the NXT tag titles if they were only going to be jobbers on the main roster.

Believe it or not they used to be even worse before Viktor replaced Bram.

I remember being so excited when their hype videos started on RAW. Awesome music, cool look, and an old school intimidating presence in the promo clips.
Then they debuted. One was short and kinda scrawny, the other average and slightly gelatinous. The outfits and entrance is awesome, but the matches are multiple kinds of suck.
I still want to like them but something is just not clicking.

NXT was/is pretty saturated with "small" guys (Breeze, Zayn, Neville, Balor, Itami, Kalisto, etc., in addition to whatever 'local talent' was brought in to get squashed), so they looked huge in comparison. Then they hit the main roster, and you have Konnor, the big heavyweight badass, looking more flabby and less muscular than Damien Sandow across the ring, and Viktor, who was basically a skinnier Miz.

Then again, another famous monster tag team Demolition, weren't nearly in the same shape as the Road Warriors, Ax was nearly 50 with the body to prove it and Darsow/Smash was also pretty chunky at that point. Then when you look at the roster, I think only Ryback, Titus, Big E, Strowman and to an extent, Cena could really pass for one of the Road Warriors.

It's just strange to me how these guys are portrayed as monster powerhouses yet Viktor is literally the size of X-Pac.
He looks less like The Warlord and more like a dorky nu metal kid on Halloween.
