I can forgive Cam for freezing on the night, getting nervous, throwing himself to the floor in a fit of petulance on the touchline, for walking out of a press conference after the most disappointing night of his sporting life, hell I can even forgive him for losing me money on betting that Carolina would win the Super Bowl before the season started.
But I simply cant defend him for that bailing out of recovering the fumble when the game is on the line, especially when you saw Manning instinctively drop to recover his own fumble a couple of drives earlier.

So between the upcoming Peyton Manning media circlejerk and the Cam Newton hot takes.... oh dear, it's like the perfect storm for the media.
I'm gonna avoid any football news until August.

"We're talking about press conferences, not a game, not a game, not a game, we talking about press conference."
Am I the only one who thinks they should save these SB postgame conference for the next day instead of right after?

I don't blame him for being annoyed. Especially when you consider everyone was looking for a reason to get one over on him and make themselves feel better for the fact that even though they so desperately want to, they can't come out and call him the N-word and make him tip his cap. So, they call him "cocky" or "A thug" or whatever. It's Sherman all over again. Wait, what are you even talking about? Calling someone out for clearly not giving a single f*** about a press conference is racist? That people are trying to "get one over on him"? No one was talking victims here and I think it's silly to think there's some mob ready to "put him in his place". You can apply that criticism to just about any athlete or public figure...so I really don't know what your point is, unless you're suggesting that Cam is above criticism. I guess let him do whatever or else?? Really? Where are the people calling out Rodgers When he throws a bitch fit and ignoring people who ask for an autograph when he loses? Including a cancer patient who he conveniently "didn't see." Where are those people? Or when he threw a tantrum and broke a tablet after an INT? Where are people saying he has to act more professional after he does his lame ass discount doublecheck taunt? Where are the people calling Rivers out for his awful attitude, especially when it costs his team games? Or Andy Dalton squirting some over comments JJ Watt made? And do I need to even mention Roethlisberger. A man who commited the ultimate crime. Twice. I'll tell you where they are: no-f******-where. Yet, when someone like Cam Newton or Richard Sherman dares to think that they might be pretty good, and then they have a bad game, they HAVE to show professional behavior at all times. No exceptions. Or risk everyone judging them, their backgrounds, and they're families without actually knowing the first thing about them away from the field or a microphone. You want people to eat crow after setbacks and conduct themselves in a certain way, fine. However, a lot of fans and reporters pick and choose who they want to be humble and who can get a pass, and there is a troubling pattern with that standard in terms of race from what I have seen.

Roethlisburger was never proven guilty of doing anything so fail to see what these 2 "Ultimate Crimes" he did were or have to do with racism and your team losing. Cam has his hundred million dollar contract he'll be fine in the morning.

I'm so disappointed in Cam.
Like, he had a fantastic season and proved to everybody that he deserves to be MVP and he played like total shit last night. Offense was totally exposed all night long. Goddammit.
Also pour one out for Marshawn. First Megatron now him. I wonder which team with a retiring player will win next year.

I'm like Shelton Benjamin during his gold standard period when I type. But, I stand by my overall point even without that.

It's weird because it doesn't seem like those two have been in the league that long. But, they both started in 2007 and accomplished quite a bit during that time.

Here is my issue with Cam's actions: All season he'd tear apart opposing fans, dance all over the field and was cocky as all hell. When you win, you earn some of that and his reposnse was simple and correct, don't like it, stop him which is what Denver did. Instead of showing the grace and class that comes with being an MVP and leader, that comes with downside of winning like he did, he literally fell on the ground in a fit and later walked off his required media duties in a huff. His own team showed how it should be done, Josh Norman was bawling on the sidelines but did the press stuff, Thomas Davis was majorly injured, spent reportedly 10 minutes being consoled by his coach but didn't hide from questions outside the press stuff, and their coaches stood there and took the questions and blame. Cam looks like an entitled brat that wanted to rage quit a game but could not. To have the season he did and end it with a childish fit on the biggest stage is more than sad, IMO. This. Cam came off like a little bitch.

As a Denver fan, that game was tense as hell. Exciting defensive battle. Up until the Anderson TD I was sure it would be 17-16 to Carolina into the 2 minute warning.
I wouldn't blame Cam if I was a Panthers fan, Denver's D was in his face all night. (I don't think I've ever seen an O-line False-Starting because both tackles are desperate to leap a yard BACKWARDS before)

I think the SB losing team should have their press conference on Monday, not right after.

I feel this is overreacting to a freaking press conference.
Cam didn't throw his teammates under the bus or his coaches or his offensive line.
Seriously, we're gonna demonize him because he didn't want to spew clichés or give some fake clichéd response in a damn press conference?
I guess this is why everyone loves their cliché spewing cookie-cutter robots like Peyton so much.

I never understood why Carolina was this overwhelming favorite going in. I had Denver from the start because Denver was the better team all around.
The only position Carolina was better at this year was at QB, Denver had the far better skill positions, better O-Line, Better D-Line, Better LBs, Better Secondary, Better Everything else.
Cam won MVP because everyone said he had unbelievable numbers with no real help around him, well Denver's great D exposed that pretty damn quickly.
Remember the reason Carolina even scored their TD was because Talib was a complete moron that entire drive, you take that away, this was a complete beatdown annihilation.
The better team won, going away.

No, people are *rightully* on his ass because he spent the entire season trolling opposing fans and showboating on the field, neither of which I have a problem with. But he after shitting his pants in the biggest game of his career so far, he acted like a whiny little bitch. Sorry, not the actions of a league MVP All we heard all season, playoffs and 2 week SuperBowl lead in was how fun and how oh-so good for the game he is. So, you'll have to forgive people for calling him out after that piss poor sore loser display last night. Cam Newton is an amazing QB, terrific athelete and seemingly has a great career left ahead of him, but he needs to grow the f*** up if he wants to be lumped in with the big boys.

If you want to be King Shit of the NFL Universe, gotta deal with the good and bad of it. No, I'm not saying you have to lose with a smile on your face. But you can't just walk away like a little bitch when things don't do your way. When you get one of those head-of-the-franchise deals like Cam has, your job to the franchise goes well beyond just play on the field. You represent the franchise every time a camera is on you.
