What evidence exist that this could possibly happen?

I haven't watched, but I sort of know the story going on, so here's what I'd do.
Reigns gets the #1 contendership.
Ambrose finds his way into the match.
Ambrose steals the pin on Triple H from Reigns at Mania. Although somewhat annoyed, Reigns congratulates his friend.
While Ambrose isn't cocky in the next several weeks, he does sort of rub it in Reigns' face that he's champion.
Reigns eventually turns on his friend over being frustrated he missed out on yet another Wrestlemania moment because a "brother" couldn't keep his nose out of his business. Like someone else said, Roman doesn't turn heel, but becomes a true lone wolf which fits the crowd entrance.
Fast forward, Seth wins the Rumble and we get a Triple Threat at Mania 33, where Reigns finally officially wins.

TBH, although Reigns is still getting boos it's no where near as bad as last year. I imagine the main event will have enough bells and whistles to keep the crowd from completely turning on it. Barring complete disaster, there's no need to abandon ship in favor of a one month Ambrose build.
I imagine that Ambrose will get a Mania moment, it just doesn't make sense to do it this year.
