Before AJ Styles, who was the last person to jump ship from a rival company or the Independent Scene and arrive immediately to the main roster without a stop in WWE development?
Has this not happened since Christian in 2009 I'm guessing? So in 7 years between the two of them, did anyone else accomplish this feat? And to be fair, Christian was already a WWE name, so he wasn't going to development anyways.
So it's pretty safe to say all the guys from ROH, TNA, Mexico, etc..... have stopped in development one way or another?

AJ is 38, and looking at the typical amount of time it takes to call people up from NXT, he may be 40 before he officially joins the roster.
As long as everyone on the roster knows how to take the Styles Clash he should be fine.

Original Sin Cara, probably. REALLY? Man, that is where it all went wrong. I thought he went down to FCW/NXT or whatever development was called at the time to hone the WWE style. This explains botch after botch.

Sin Cara, Kharma, and Tensai were the last people before AJ who went straight to the main roster. Sin Cara had in his contract about not having to do a developmental stint. Bad decision. I am sure AJ got the same clause but he got tv experience so they don't worry about him knowing how to perform on camera and in a WWE ring.

Sin Cara as Mistico was good. Not the top worker in Mexico but not someone who stuck up the place in matches. He should had took the time to learn the WWE style and got used to the ring. He admits now that he should had done just that. Reason why Nakamura is going to NXT and why La Sombra is there instead of the main roster. Different way of wrestling.

I always think it says a lot that Sin Cara didn't go to developmental & was the drizzling shits, whereas D-Bry insisted on going to FCW for a while and ended up being one of the greatest stars they've had a in a while.

Don't get me wrong original Sin Cara was a mess, but people who only know him from that should really check out some old Mistico matches. There's a reason he was so big in Mexico even if the man behind the mask is insane. WWE was just such a different beast for him and he was too hard headed and unwilling to adapt.

Didn't Del Rio come straight in? I thought that's where the "big deal fairly quick" thing came from?

Didn't Braun Strowman have like one NXT match and then went right from the Performance Center to Raw?

Didn't Braun Strowman have like one NXT match and then went right from the Performance Center to Raw? I saw him perform in his debut match on an NXT house show, dunno about any others.
