Raikkonen out now too. Big chance for someone outside of the Mercedes/Ferrari foursome to get on the podium with Hamilton struggling today.

Pretty good start to the season, I'd say. I'm glad that Hamilton didn't win; at least one of the Ferraris will be able to give the Mercs a run for their money. I'm also glad that Alonso is still alive after that insane crash.

Great race to start the season. Yeah, it was a Mercedes 1-2, but they had to work for it and the result could easily have been different, especially if Kimi hadn't gone out. Ferrari are looking like they can mount a serious challenge.
other thoughts: Well done to Haas getting points on their debut. Does nothing bother Kimi? The Toro Rossos didn't quite take each other out, but I'm sure they will at some point this year. That crash.

See Finnish hockey players for further proof.

My hatred for the Ferrari Formula 1 team notwithstanding, I hope this race is a marker of what kind of competition we can expect this year.

Finally saw the race, between the Alonso crash or Kimi's intake fire I don't know what was scarier. All and all a good race and it was nice to see Haas get in the points in a debut race, especially for a team that started from scratch. I think that was the first time since Toyota in 1992, Brawn was a team taken over from the Honda team in I think 2008.
If anybody wants to watch it in the states, it is up on the NBCSN website for a few days, you just need to log in with your cable provider. Thats how I usually watch F1 when the races start early in the morning in my time and I can't be bothered to wake up early/stay up late.

So here's an random question for NASCAR: Does anyone like Joey Logano anymore? He keeps pissing off more and more people.
Even the Busch brothers are like, "Man he's pissing everyone off."

As a precautionary measure against some minor rib fractures and (mostly healed) partially collapsed lung from his crash in Australia, Fernando Alonso will sit out the Bahrain Grand Prix. Reserve driver Stoffel Vandoorne will step in to make his Formula One debut. www.bbc.com/sport/formula1/35934347

If I was him, if McLaren doesn't pick up the pace this year I would consider moving on if another team would take me.

Logano has the most punchable face in all of Sprint Cup. Speaking of, during the off-week, Kasey Kahne rolled his 410 into PA to run the dirt tracks at Willams Grove and Lincoln last weekend. He didn't do much of anything at the Grove, but dominated at Lincoln, leading every lap and getting his first ever win at that track. He really seems to have taken a liking to PA and has been making investments in the dirt track scene around here.

So, shock of all shocks, F1 qualifying was a hot mess again. It's almost as if the first time with this system in Australia was a warning of how it would work or something.
