Vettel's blown an engine on the warm up lap! To quote Napoleon in Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure, "Shit" x 12. But damn those first few laps looked like the insides of one of those old toy ray guns with the flint in them.

This feels like one of those races where everybody who manages to get to the end gets points.

Tell you what, Haas are having a hell of a start to the season for a team started from scratch. Two strong results for Grosjean so far.
And Vandoorne gets a championship point on debut as the injury substitute for Alonso. Hope the kid can find a regular place on the grid eventually, because he's clearly got talent if he got a result out of the struggling McLaren.

I'm surprised how much bottoming out there was during the initial laps, I'm curious what part of the underbelly was grinding so badly.
Looks like Kimi definitely isn't done being competitive yet, and Grosjean continues to impress in the Haas, though I'm sure that'll get more conspiracy theories blabbing about how much of a role Ferrari had in that. Since we all know a brand new team can never be done properly the first year, ESPECIALLY an American one. </sarcasm>

I'm willing to put up with qualifying if we keep getting races like these.
Wonder how long it will take Lewis to get the hang of the new start procedure?

what a hell of an F1 race that was, genuinely thought hamilton was done after that first corner shunt, but kudos to him for never giving up and getting third!
also hass racing going from strength to strength, and grosjean doing fantastic
poor vettel though, and no i didn't laugh
roseberg was just about as perfect as you can get, never challenged and always looked good
i was literally breathless after the end
oh and that qualifying system is a joke, and ecclestone going senile it doesn't look good for changing it back!

I started to watch the BTCC back in the late '90s, I got into it through the Playstation game. Nowadays I always seem to miss it when it's on for various reasons.

I think I've mentioned before about how my first exposure to motor sport on TV as a child was through highlight packages of mid-'90s BTCC, so I've always had a soft spot for that era of it.

Many would say the 90's Super Touring era was at it at it's best, and it had some great racing with official manufactures like Ford, BMW, Alfa Romeo, Renault, Audi, Volvo and others being apart of it.
You had afew ex Formula 1 guys in there to and pretty big names in motorsport, and the budgets were stupidly expensive back then.
Whilst today's BTCC is no way near as big as it once was, I would argue that the racing is still just as good.. Matt Neal and Jason Plato are the 2 names 90's fans will most likely remember, everyone else is past that era.
They are at Donington Park in 2 Weeks time which always offers some excellent races.
Shame I have to work Sundays now, I use to travel to every meet, I did it for 5 years straight.

Kyle Busch is on fire in NASCAR right now. That could be good or bad for him. Some people say that if he goes into the Chase hot, he could be the favorite. However, I've seen years where a guy starts hot, then he fizzled at the end of the season. Granted, it's still a long ways to go.

Kyle is the man! His dominance so far is reminding me of 90's Jeff Gordon, where he can basically win every week.

I'm pretty stoked to head back to LA for my yearly visit to the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach this weekend. Should be awesome!

Wehrlein learns that DRS + bumpy, damp track = bouncing off the barriers. Red flag in Q1 while they get the car out the way.

Red flag at the end of Q2 as well, Hulkenberg's wheel fell off.
The big story so far in qualifying is Lewis Hamilton not setting a time in Q1, so he'll have some work to do tomorrow if he wants a decent result.

Maybe it is just me, but whenever I see a wheel fall off during a race, I think of this stand up bit...
Language and treble warning....
