What about luchadors that aren't already hired by the company (Sombra)? Would love for then to get Fenix, but I don't think LU/AAA guts will be able to participate :-( If they can get LU/AAA guys then they NEED to get Pentagon, and they need to get him now.

I would have said him as well, love his work, one of the best going. But his billed weight is 215lbs..

Tournament wont mean anythingwithout AR Fox!!!!! WWE PLS I presume WWE know about the video he was in, so pretty much no chance he'll be in it. Maybe not, women (Lana, Mickie James, etc.) have done various levels of porn/erotica/adult modeling before WWE. As long as they don't try to hide it I don't think it counts against them much. May be a double standard in place though for men (not sure Rollins softcore gay erotica counts for much), so who knows.

Hey isn't Human Tornado un-retired now? What's he up to currently? Dude would be over huge with an NXT crowd!

King Cuerno wants to be in it and they want him, but I'm pretty sure he's under a contract to Lucha Underground which would not allow it.
The Lucha Underground talent can't appear on the show unless they have a special contract.
As far as Mexican talent, many originally speculated that Manny Andrade (formerly La Sombra from CMLL) would be a major part of the tournament, if not be the eventual winner.

So he's planning on stealing as much of their talent as possible, driving them out of business, and then taking their place?

In defense, though, the Rollins video was less "softcore gay erotica" and more "a normal wrestling match that was filmed as a fetish video"- which is relatively common on the indy scene (pretty much every non-Performance Center trainee woman in WWE's done similar videos, and a surprisingly larger list of indy men have done them than you'd think.) It's also a WORLD of difference from what AR Fox did. (Even if, it's a moot point since apparently Fox is being signed by Lucha Underground.)

So he's planning on stealing as much of their talent as possible, driving them out of business, and then taking their place? It's kind of a weird situation. He's obviously competing with them-signing all their if stars. But he's also been making a very concerted effort to shmooze up to them, probably trying to set up talent exchanges. Based on this tournament, I guess it's working.

What's stopping them to get lots of Japanese talent, and then start a Japanese division that runs over there exclusively?

Just for my part, but there are three guys I would make a definite argument for: Christopher Daniels, Ophidian, and Shark Boy. I'm serious! In all three cases they would not be permanent signings, they would show up purely for purposes of the tournament and nothing more. Daniels putting in some sort of guest appearance in NXT seems like a given at some point-he is such a prominent indy name that I can't imagine he hasn't come up in WWE conversations at some point. Ophidian is one of the best high flyers around with a really unique gimmick and look, and while Shark Boy really isn't a high flyer anymore due to age and injuries, he is still one of the most recognizable indy names out there who has never appeared on WWE tv. When you have a situation like WWE has with NXT, and a tournament with this many slots, I think there is room for a few novelty participants.

It has been discussed before in this thread but it can't be undersold. If only there was some way for Trevor Lee, Mark Andrews and Andrew Everett to get out of their TNA contracts for this. All three are too talented for TNA and have brighter futures than the company, especially Lee and Andrews. The three are certainly in the upper echelon of workers and have all proven to be amazing competitors in the indys both in the UK and the USA. All three (especially Lee and Andrews) would be major pickups for this tournament if they were able to get out of TNA.

Has his significant health issue ever been confirmed by anyone or is it just a potentially embarrassing rumor that's going around? If it's just a rumor and the truth is a little more benign, it might have been possible, since Lince Dorado's pretty broken-down as well and he's allegedly in the field.

I hope Zack Sabre Jr's introduction promo to the tournament is going to be like this classic King Of The Flippys

I'm familiar with ZSJ's ring work, which of course is excellent. However, this is a nice look into his potential on the mic. I really think he'll be in NXT by 2017.

If the rumor about Human Tornado is true, there is zero chance WWE risks having him wrestle for them.

Nice. I've just picked up Progress on-demand and I can't get enough of Dar. He's maybe not the most impressive person in ring (still very good), but he definitely has a way with the crowd.
