This is cool and all....I just can't fight my paranoia. They're taking over. They're taking it all over, and they're making us thank them for it. I f***ing hate that.

Or, they're trying to foster the relationships of old that Vince Sr. once had with the territories. They can't hire every participant in this tournament, and they're promoting these companies through these qualifying matches. As long as there exists more wrestlers than spaces in WWE, the independents will always be there, and perhaps this is Triple H trying to show that working alongside them is better than ignoring them outright. WWE is top dog and there is really no changing that any time in the forseeable future. They're already taken over.

I only watched the Zack Sabre one. This was the first time I've seen anything of his except for a gif in the 100 best matches of 2015 thread in (W) rest. My God, that was impressive! And not just him, either. His opponent showed a lot of great stuff there, too. I really like flash Morgan Webster, he's got a great Mod Gimmick, but unfortunately that match he tore ankle ligaments and dislocated his shoulder so he'll be out for some time. Could you elaborate on "Mod Gimmick"? Because I'm picturing him interrupting backstage interviews and telling those involved to stay on topic, and I suddenly realize that is something I need in my life.

"WWE backed indies" are no longer indies. It becomes a situation where "We're doing X because WWE wants it, and if we don't, none of our guys will get signed, which kills our brand". It's the beginning of the homogenization of wrestling. It's already happening to EVOLVE, who have outright stated they're changing their roster to suit what WWE wants.

Wow just got done watching these. Great wrestling from everyone involved. Can't wait for ZSJ rip people apart at Full Sail. Can't wait to see who's participating from WWE as well tbh.

It's the beginning of the homogenization of wrestling. It's already happening to EVOLVE, who have outright stated they're changing their roster to suit what WWE wants. EVOLVE is going to use wrestlers who are either on WWE's radar or potentially maybe. So basically most of the current roster minus a few. If anything, EVOLVE's partnership with WWE moved them from being a non-factor to the elite in indy promotions. Watch the companies working with WWE for the GCS box offices and profiles rise.

It's the beginning of the homogenization of wrestling. It's already happening to EVOLVE, who have outright stated they're changing their roster to suit what WWE wants. Exactly, the territories are dead; WWE won, there's no conquering left to do. As long as there are wrestling fans there will be non-WWE companies, and especially with the advent of the internet and all manner of alternatives to PPV, WWE can never own wrestling. Either these companies' stocks rise thanks to the promotion of WWE and brief showcasing of some of their home talents, or compromise their identities, and as TNA's proven, turn into a WWE-lite that nobody really cares to support, and people turn instead to companies with stronger identities that serve as actual stylistic alternatives. I don't know, I just don't see taking over the indies as being something WWE would see as even remotely financially worthwhile, and I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt that this is a move meant to help establish good working relationships. The logic of them trying to kill independent wrestling doesn't make a great deal of sense to me, especially when they're putting so much emphasis into signing indie standouts.

So I am kinda of excited that Evolve is having two matches this Saturday Drew Gulak vs Tracy Williams TJP vs Fred Yehi I hope that Drew and TJP are the winners because both are pretty damn good in the ring and Drew is a great talent and could have a Dean Malenko Master of a 1000 holds gimmick if they chose to sign him.

Drew Gulak has also proved he can do the technical master schtick but could also handle pulling off a goofy gimmick.

I want TJ Perkins to get in just for the surreal moment for one of TNA's biggest defenders being in a revolutionary event in WWE history.

You guys think there is a chance they will pick up more Dragon Gate guys for this to go along with the amazing Akira Tozawa? Yoshino, Dragon Kid, CIMA, BxB Hulk and Naruki Doi would all be worthy talents for this tournament. Especially Kid, Hulk and CIMA in my book, but you can't go wrong with any of the talent I just listed

Or is that just for Dragon Gate in Japan, not the US branch? EDIT: The US branch is inactive at the moment, so I'm not sure what the status of those talents would be.
