Who can be the dollar store Stephanie to team up with him? Either Deonna or one of the Aussie squad. I now imagine Riley with a crocodile or a boomerang

Agreed. I thought he was trying to be this guy... Oh, come on! This is going too far now. The fans loved Barry Horowitz. Comparing him to Riley is an insult. True, that was wrong for me to do that to Horowitz.

I would say anything to Alex Riley's face. He seems like a f***boy who wouldn't do shit anyway for fear of getting in trouble.

I'm glad someone else started an A Ry thread...
It's not working. I, too, had high hopes for the "Varsity Bully" gimmick. Everything since had been just sad. It's fine to just recognize that maybe wrestling isn't for him.
The only things that could possibly save him are either a revenge run-in against Owens or a "heelish babyface" gimmick. Allow him to do heelish things against a heel, like pull Dillinger's tights after Dillinger pulls his. Other than that, I say good luck in his future endeavors. If he really did get screwed by the "WWE Machine", Dixie is waiting with a checkbook and open arms.

That entire match made no sense.
Riley looked and acted like an entitled douche, dominated the match, and got pinned by a surprise roll up with no shenanigans whatsoever.
Dillinger has a gimmick that was over with the entire crowd, celebrated with the fans after his win, and looked genuinely happy. Yet the face announcer was on Riley's side, and the heel announcer was on Tye's side.
Also, Riley's apparent motivations are not befitting a face. At least the way it's played out. If he's frustrated sand tired of being passed over, as a face, he shouldn't be taking those out on his opponents, but the establishment that's holding him down.
It just doesn't make any sense, and Riley just sucks at this current gimmick.

Tom, who got along with Riley, was supporting him but did talk about him changing since he left the booth, while Corey, who has always hated him, stilled hated him and was rooting for him to lose. And Riley hates what NXT has become, he is Baron Corbin without the personality. He see the indie guys and people now in NXT as the IWC wimps taking over wrestling and pushing him aside while he is last living person from the Attitude Era basically and he wants to fix all that.

I can see your side of it, but that's just not how I see it, respectfully. I think it would play out better if Riley went out and beat people down. Rather than....wrestling a match like was working with Barry Horowitz on Superstars in 1991.

But that's not how the commentary told the story. I haven't watched in a few months, but from what I saw, Riley's mannerisms are heelish, but he's not wrestling like a heel, nor is the commentary presenting him as one. At least from what I saw/heard.

This isn't a black and white issue with Riley, he's still got people that like him and want him to do well because of the Riley they knew (that was all commentary talked about, the Riley they knew and not the one in the ring) but that is no longer him. We're not at act 4 where even those who liked him now have to admit he's a heel. This is more than Riley is a heel now so boo him.

If I see more that entices me, I will gladly admit I'm wrong, but Riley has never ever impressed me. And if you view my post history, I am very rarely negative about anything at all, so me posting those opinions means a lot. At least to me.

Oh, don't get me wrong, I am not thrilled with all of it (really not looking forward to top heel Riley), just looking back at the little things of it has me impressed. The little details that are normally overlooked by WWE being important and not being beaten over people's heads is neat.

But for me, the commentary and Riley's wrestling style just take me out of the narrative. Like I said, I hope further developments can change my view, but it just doesn't work for me at the moment.

Little thing, but did anyone else notice his boots? I'm 90% sure A-Ri was wearing wrestling shoes and kickpads styled to look like tall boots. Bizarre. I think Kofi, Kidd, and some others wore/wear shoes and kickpads. It's not unprecedented. EDIT- Paul London was another. I remember in his last job as a singles guy on Raw, he was in just wrestling shoes. Probably didnt feel the need to put his jester kickpads on for a 2 minute squash. RVD wears shoes and kickpads, too. It's just strange to me to see the kickpads stylized to look like tall wrestling boots.
